TLDR : Answer Summary
The average processing time for renewing a UK passport at the VFS located in the Trendy Building varies but generally takes between 1 to 4 weeks based on recent user experiences. Many expats report that the process is straightforward, with some handling it personally without needing an agent. Practical details indicate it can be quicker if done in places like Chiang Mai, with reports of processing times as short as 7 days to 15 days. Fees for renewing the passport were noted at £153 for a 48-page passport.

@Stephen ******
To apply, renew and pick up a passport. All on the internet? How did you manage that?

Easy visa I’m in Pattaya .. 10,000 bht , 10 year door to door , took 3 weeks .. this was in 2018

I understand why some people choose to use an agent for various situations but the process is so easy for passport renewal. Book appointment. Fill in some simple forms and turn up on the day.

to Bangkok .. come home that’s 2

Go back to collect from BKK and go home that’s 2 again .. =4 .. and taxis fares x4 ..
John *********
@Martin ********
Ah OK. Got you. Where's home just out of interest? I'm in Phayao. 3-4 hours from Chiang Mai. But missus likes driving and the road is brand new.

@John ********
as I said I’m in Pattaya , about 3 hour taxi fare each trip .. could take a bus , cheaper but longer 😉
John *********
@Martin ********
Oops. You did say. Right at the start. Yep that's 4k in taxis for a start.
Martin *********
@John ********
yeah as I say weighing it all up , and certainly in my case well worth going via an agent 😉👍🏻
Martin *********
@John ********
understood BUT , I weighed up .. effectively 4 trips to Bangkok , and possible stay in hotel twice .. the cost works out negligible imo .
John *********
@Martin ********
4 trips? One to apply and one to collect or am I missing something? A third party can also collect with the correct ID. Not knocking you at all mate just trying to make it clear how easy the process is.

Went there on 17 January with the paperwork. New passport received on 29 January. HMPO at Trendy is friendly and very efficient. Highly recommend.

Applied in Chiang Mai. No need for an agent. Bring all docs and any shortfall they will copy for you. Was told within 4 weeks. Sent to UK passport office same day.

Literally few weeks. Easy to pop into the trendy and get it sorted and lot cheaper than paying an agent to do exactly the same thing just to take it there for you. I actually live in the trendy condo and you’ll get it sorted yourself no problem
