Hello Community,

I have a question in behalf of a friend:

He is in TH on base of a non-immi-O retirement visa and needs to have it extendet in March for another year.

Unfortunately his Passport runs out if validity February 2024

Will the extension be made till the Passport’s validity or again for a whole year ? ( Visa needs to be stamped into the new passport anyways.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice regarding the extension of a non-immigrant O retirement visa in Thailand, as their friend's passport is set to expire in February 2024, prior to the visa extension needed in March 2024. Community members clarify that the visa extension will only be valid until the passport's expiration, urging the importance of obtaining a new passport before applying for the visa extension to avoid losing time.

Let's try that again. πŸ™‚

IF you are applying for a year extension BUT your passport expires before that year is up you only get stamped in until the passport expires.

So if he doesn't get a new passport BEFORE he applies for a new extension he'll get stamped in only until Feb 2024 not March so he'll lose a month.

Certainly NOT the end of the world but something that can be avoided IF they apply for a new passport now before they need to apply for their up coming extension.
