Hi! If I take a 1 year student visa I know that its only a 90 days visa but can I really live here 1 year? Why they say 1 year if its not true and that your visa finish after 90 days 🥲

TLDR : Answer Summary
The one-year student visa you are referring to is actually a Non-ED visa which only grants an initial stay of 90 days. You can extend your stay for another 90 days multiple times, but this requires you to submit paperwork from your school confirming your attendance and progress. This extension process can be repeated, allowing you to stay in Thailand for a longer duration while studying, but it is done in 90-day increments.

All non formal education visas are 90 days at a time.

It's not a 1 year student visa. Non-ED visa is a 90 day visa. During the last month of your 90 days your school will provide you with paperwork to take to immigration to apply for a 90 day extension. Then you'll repeat this process up to 4 times.

Immigration wants to make sure you're actually attending your classes and that you are making progress in learning, so you have to go and apply for an extension with paperwork from your school, your attendance records, etc.

The only people who can receive a 1 year education extension are those attending university for a degree.

I'm afraid the extensions are only for 1 or 2 months now. I got an ED visa this year in Bangkok which was for 90 days as you say, but all the extensions are either 30 or 60 days long.

for the student visa?

Or an actual school aged person attending an international or recognised school. They call the university and school extensions “formal” education, whereas the language or Muay Thai etc are “informal” and last 90 days as you say.

How about the Muai- Thai thing? can you extend it as well and how immigrations are going to test your skills?
