Can I exit and re-enter Thailand on a student visa, extend it for years, and apply for a Schengen visa from there?

Hello there! Got 3 questions

1. with a student visa, can you leave and enter Thailand on the same visa? I saw some infos saying that you'd have to apply for a new one if you leave the country.

1. can I extend my student visa until whenever I want to? For examples 2/3 yrs?

1. with a student visa, is it possible to apply a schengen visa in Thailand, since I'd have to attend a course every year in Spain?

Many thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires if a student visa allows for multiple entries to Thailand, the possibility of extending the visa for long durations, and if it's feasible to apply for a Schengen visa while in Thailand. Responses indicate that a re-entry permit is necessary for re-entering, extension is typically limited to one year, and applying for a Schengen visa is allowed if the student is enrolled in a course.

If you have a visa/extension you can apply for a re-entry permit, which will allow you to leave and re enter. You’d be stamped in to the same date that you previously had.

You can only extend a student visa for a max of one year, and even that may not be possible. Some courses/schools will be 3 months per time.

You can apply for a Schengen visa in Thailand. Usually you’d need to contact the embassy of the country you’d be going to be in first, which in your case would be the Spanish embassy.

thx for the infos. Abt Schengen visa, I’m just afraid that if I don’t have a physical residency card, they might not issue my visa. I’ll have to check with embassy I guess!

1) re-entry permit

2) if at university yes, if doing non-university course then it's much harder and unlikely

3) yes but you need to be attending class in Thailand or your student visa will be cancelled by the institution. Unless you have a dodgy visa of course...

I see, I think most likely it will only be a one year student visa plus 2 months of tourist visa. Thank you!
