Advice needed: I got the 60 days Covid extension of my expired/revoked non-Imm B visa. It's running until April 29th, however I intend to fly back home on April 30th. The immigration officer understood my concern of overstaying and getting into trouble applying for a new work permit any time in the future plus paying the overstay fine and called their colleague at Suvarnabumi airport. He then told me, that it is okay to leave the country within 24 hours after the permit of stay runs out. As I learned in this forum not to trust anything that is not written and signed or inked into the passport, I'd kindly ask if anyone has experience or advice for my case.

To clarify: I haven't booked yet, but the flight on April 30th would be perfect for multiple personal reasons.

Thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice about their situation of planning to leave Thailand on April 30th, one day after their 60-day COVID extension of a non-Imm B visa expires on April 29th. The immigration officer confirmed that leaving within 24 hours of the expiry is acceptable, but the user is cautious and wants confirmation from others. Comments generally advise against overstaying, even for just one day, cautioning about future visa implications despite potential leniency for a minor overstay at the airport.

okay, here's how it works on an overstay of UNDER 24 hours when you are flying out.

They waive the 500 baht overstay fine and put a stamp in your passport stating you overstayed under 24 hours and were not fined.

Now is it an overstay? Yes it is definitely one. Will it hurt you in the future securing a visa/extension/entry, most likely NO.

Other than getting an elite visa or getting a tourist visa from the thai consulate in Penang Malaysia (which won't sell them to anyone with an overstay stamp) You are highly unlikely to have a problem with an overstay of under 24 hours.

NOW with the above being, AND seeing as you didn't buy the ticket yet, how about just not overstaying at all and leave when you're supposed to ?

Do *NOT* overstay.

Why book on the 30th knowing your visa ends on the 29th...no answer needed...up to you.

Yes ...you may or may not be fined 500 Thai baht for one day overstay...decision is up to the immigration officer.

It will be stamped into your passport as an overstay...but most likely with fine waived for a one day overstay at airport.

Safe travels.
