Can I exit Thailand with both my old and new passports after cancelling my ED visa?

Hello. I have a question about my passports and ED visa. My ED visa expires on July 15. I have an appointment to pick up my new passport from my embassy in Bangkok on July 10.

I plan to cancel my ED visa first, then pick up my new passport, which will render my old passport cancelled. After that, I plan to do a quick border run by van.

My question is: Do I need to transfer my cancelled visa to my new passport before doing the border run, or can I exit Thailand using both my old and new passports and get a new entry stamp on my new passport?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the procedure of cancelling their ED visa, picking up a new passport, and executing a border run. Specifically, they want to know if they need to transfer their cancelled visa to their new passport before leaving Thailand or if they can use both passports for exit and re-entry.

I honestly don't know IF you could bounce out/back by land with a cancelled extension in an old passport and a blank new passport, you could certainly try it and see, worst they would say is you can't get out by land and would have to fly

Thanks. I will have to ask immigration, and will keep you updated.

Unless I am greatly mistaken you can't transfer a cancelled extension to a new passport ๐Ÿ˜•

you'd get the new passport, get the stamps transferred to it and then you'd cancel the extension, so you just have the one passport with the stamp history
