Can I get a retirement visa in Chiang Mai and still travel to the islands for my 90-day check-in?

Hi All, if I was to get my initial retirement Visa in CM, does that mean I would have to live in CM or could I go down to the islands for example and do my next 90 day check down there. Would I be stuck with the CM immigration office every 90 days? I’ve heard stories of the police checking people are actually liveing where they state on their 90 day reports. Not that I have anything to hide, I just wondered on the flexibility aspect. What if I wanted to move before the 90 days were up? Thanks in advance for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can obtain a retirement visa in Chiang Mai (CM) and still travel to other locations, such as the islands, for your 90-day reporting. If you change your residence to a different area that is served by another immigration office, you would need to notify them by filing a TM30 and possibly a TM28 for a change of address. Once this is done, you can report to the new immigration office for future check-ins and visa extensions, allowing for greater flexibility.

, Just be aware, if online reporting is rejected, you have to go back to that immigration office to report in person.

IF you move from the address that you used to get your extension to an area served by another immigration office you (or your new land lord) would go to that office and file a TM30 (notification of foreigner in residence) and possibly a TM28 (change of address form) and then you'd be able to do your 90 day reporting at that office and get your following extensions there as well.
