2 questions, 1 is there any way to change from My Non-OA extension of stay to a Non-O extension of stay without leaving Thailand? 2 If I go to the USA is there a way to cancell My Non-OA extension of stay before it expires abd apply for a new Non-O visa and return to Thailand and convert that to a Non-O extension of stay?

Sorry yes you can as long as you meet the requirements youll be changing the reason of the extension just go get the hand out at your local immigration office

Bob D'Andrea Thanks, yes I've been to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, I've been living in Thailand on My Non-OA extension for eight years and have kept the 800K thb in the bank all the time. Just want to ditch the Non-OA and change to a Non-O. Was just hoping there was a way to do it without having to leave. Guess the wife and I will be taking another vacation.

There is no way to do this without leaving Thailand. You have to wipe the slate clean and get off of the OA extensions. You do this by leaving Thailand without a re-entry permit. Once you leave, your extension is invalid.

After that you're free to apply for a non-O visa and start on a new string of extensions that don't require insurance.
