Hello everyone I'm currently coming to the end of my 6 months tourist visa here in Thailand . Is it possible to get a 12 months tourist visa in Vientiane. A little about my self I'm here on a tourist visa I'm currently looking after my daughter and keeping house while my thai gf works . Am I on the right track with this or is there a another visa that would be better suited to my needs .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The query is about the possibility of obtaining a 12-month tourist visa in Vientiane, Thailand, specifically for an expat currently on a 6-month tourist visa. The consensus among commenters is that such a visa does not exist. They suggest alternatives like a single-entry Non-O visa if the user qualifies, given they have a half-Thai child. There are also discussions on managing current visa limitations and exploring other visa options suitable for staying longer in Thailand.

Are you 50..?

Remember you are ONLY allowed TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year (Jan 1 - Dec 31). You got 30 days now, and you could bounce out and back before the end of the year to get another 30 days and then extend that for 60 days under the visit family clause, that would take you into next year where you could get two more 30 day visa exempt entries by land and extend each of them by 60 days as well, SO that's almost 8 months in all

Aren't there some consulates in SEA which issue multiple entry non-o raising half Thai child IF OP can meet the financial requirement?

doesn't matter at all. You can get a 60 day "visit thai family" extension at the immigration office off this 30 day visa exempt entry for 1900baht.

Let's step back for a second. You don't want a tourist visa so much as you want to stay in Thailand. There may be a visa that's right for you.

1. You say you have a daughter. Is she half Thai (so you can potentially get a Non-O based on supporting a Thai child)? If not, does she have an ED visa (so you can stay here as a parent)?

2. What is your nationality? Different nationalities have different rights to enter and live in Thailand.

3. What is your income/ savings? Can you afford an investment visa (10M THB, I think), or an elite visa (500K THB for 5 years, I think).

How about trying to maximize the time you have on this visa

What is the "enter before" or "valid until" date on the VISA itself?

my visa has run out I. So that gave me a 30 day stamp and I can go back and get another 30 days next month and that's it that's why they said I can go into Cambodia and renew my Visa

So I can't even get a 6 month tourist visa

You may be able to get a 6 month tourist visa back in your home country, OR in Perth, Australia.

IF you are the father of a half thai child (and your name is on the birth certificate) you COULD get a 90 day single entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on raising a child by showing 200K baht in a bank account and having your name on the birth certificate at the thai consulate in Vientiane or Savannakhet.

You can't get anything other than a single entry tourist visa from ANY thai consulate in the area

BUT

as
@Scott ******
correctly pointed out given you just are comin' off a 6 month tourist visa both Vientiane AND Savannakhet are out for even a single entry tourist visa because of your entry history to thailand. :/

You'd have to try another thai consulate in a nearby country for a single entry tourist visa
Scott *******
you won't get another tourist visa in Vientiane, there is no such thing as a 12 month one anyway
Benjamin ******
1. No, it is not possible to get a 1 year tourist visa.

2. If your daughter half Thai?
Tod *********
NO, there is no such thing as a 12 month tourist visa
