Can I keep renewing my tourist visa in Thailand, or is there a limit to the number of visas I can get per year?

So I’ve been in Phuket since January 16th and have done on 30 day extension and a visa run to Malaysia. I saw online that you can only get two tourist visa’s a year. Is this accurate? Because I’v heard through the grape vine that you can keep renewing. Is this true?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on whether they can continue to renew their tourist visa after already obtaining a 30-day extension and doing a visa run to Malaysia. Responses indicate that while there are limits on visa exemptions by land (only two per year), there are no official limits on the number of tourist visas obtained per year, but multiple renewals might attract scrutiny from immigration officials. There are also suggestions to consider an education visa if consistent visa runs become problematic.

If you do an Ed visa and enroll in a class, it's advisable to go as the Royal Thai Police are still doing raids on schools, there has been over 1000 people arrested in the past 12 months to date.

There are no limits on how many tourist visa you can have, but most of the Thai embassies/consulates in the area will give you a warning stamp if you have multiple back to back tourist visa's in your passport.

Well our lease is up June then we leave Phuket to Bangkok for a month or so then move to Chaing Mai then Vietnam, Philippines and Bali. Hopefully by then we will be pros.

Not sure how long you want to stay, but advice is to change between consulate/embassy and not visit the same back to back. If you really want to go school and study, spending time in classrooms etc you can ask the school to help you with the application of ED visa. I don't know how much schools ask for lesson programs and preparing paperworks.

We went to Malaysia to the Thai consulate for our second tourist visas. The first was the one we had to get in the US then we did the 30 day extension, then visa run to Malaysia to Thai consulate. This is up June 8th then I guess another 30 day extension then another visa run. We heard to get an education visa that if could say you money in visa runs etc. sign up for Thai classes etc. So should we just continue to do these visa runs or is it chancing it?

You can only get two Visa Exempt Entries (entry without a visa) by land borders a calendar year, some people call that visa run but actually it is just visit a border, stamp out Thailand, stamp in/out neighbor country and come straight back to Thailand without a Visa. a Visa run should be a visit to a Thai Consulate or Embassy to actual buy a visa. You can not renew a visa, but you can buy a new one.

Visa exempt by land are limited to two per year. No legal exempt by air, but after a few immigration will probably question you

I see, yeah my friend here had been here over a year and he said he’s had no problem. He just does visa runs. So I’m thinking of enrolling in school to get the student visa if I can’t just do visa runs.
