Can I apply for a Non-O visa in Thailand after entering on a tourist stamp?

I had (and have had for a decade) yearly extension visa for marriage to Thai husband. I exited Thailand for the summer and had totally forgot my re-entry, so annoyed, I only realised and my flight is in a day. I can come in on the tourist stamp for 60 days (Uk citizen) but to apply for non o Imm visa to restart my marriage visa, do I have to do it out of country? For example, with e-visa I see you have to stay the full duration in the country youโ€™re applying from. Do I have any other options? Like if I apply for a tourist visa in UK now and it is approved in a few days when Iโ€™m in Thailand on the 60 day tourist stamp, can I then use this Uk issued tourist visa if I exit and enter Thailand? Sorry for the length and ignorance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on whether they can apply for a Non-O visa (for marriage to a Thai national) while currently in Thailand on a 60-day tourist stamp, after forgetting to secure a re-entry permit. Responses suggest that they can apply for a 90-day Non-O visa at their local immigration office in Thailand, provided the office processes such applications, and they can restart their visa process from within the country.

Make sure to have sufficient funds in your name on a Thai bank account. Come in on a visa exempt. At immigration go for a 90 days non o based on marriage. I have done exactly this in Bangkok a few months ago, basically you start all over but you can certainly do it from within Thailand if married to Thai national. After the 90 days you go back to the year visa.

foreign females married to Thai males do not have any financial requirement.

For what it's worth for the future, I always get a single entry reentry permit whether I plan on using it or not when I do my annual extension as I'm afraid I'll forget.

yes I normally do a multi entry every single time I pick up my yearly extension- this time my husband and I were so stretched for time we had to rush out, but thatโ€™s why I completely forgot- lesson learned!

Ouch, that was a massive fail ๐Ÿ™

Forget the apply for a tourist visa online route you're coming back way too soon to fool with that

You can come in on a free stamp 60 day entry, then go to your immigration office and see if you can apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai (while most offices can issue in country Non-Imm visas some do not, so you need to check)

If your office can issue Non-Imm visas. Then apply for the 90 day Non-O for 2000baht, wait the under review period, go back get the Non-O visa and new 90 day stamp inked in then wait until you have 30 days or less left on that stamp to apply for the year extension.

My advice is dial back the paranoia just a notch or three ๐Ÿ˜› you're far from the first person who left on an extension without a re-entry permit, lost it and had to start over from nothing ๐Ÿ™‚

Best of luck with it

I have several friends whom have acquired a Non O in Thailand through the immigration. Like Tod says, and he's always spot on with his advice, stay calm and enjoy your next entry into Thailand. Best wishes to you, enjoy your day
