Can my fiancé apply for a Non-O visa after registering our marriage on a Tourist visa in Thailand?

Hi,

My fiance (Filipino) is planning to come to Thailand on a Tourist visa (60 days) and we have plan to do the marriage registration then apply for Non-O (Thai spouse) in the country but it seems like he needs to deposit the money in Thai Bank and leave it there for 2 months in order to do so. The problem is he doesn't has enough time.

The questions are

1. Is it possible for him to extend the visa by using Visiting Thai Family extension? (The marriage registration will be done during he's on his TR visa )

2. Is it possible to use the TR visa extension for 30 days first then use Visiting Thai Family extension for another 60 days?

Or is there any other options?

Thank you so much in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether their fiancé, who is on a 60-day Tourist visa, can extend the visa to stay longer after registering their marriage in Thailand, specifically through the Visiting Thai Family extension, and if it's possible to combine this with a 30-day extension before transitioning to the Non-O visa. Answers in the comments suggest it's feasible to extend the Tourist visa and then transition to a Non-O visa without waiting two months for the bank deposit, as long as certain conditions are met.

Okay, when you FIRST apply for a 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai at an immigration office in country there is NO requirement that the money be in the account for 2 months :O ONLY that it was transferred in from overseas into a thai bank account in his name only.

SO

In Bangkok you can apply for a 90 day Non-O visa on the day your money shows up here as long as you have at least 15 days left on your current tourist visa entry or an extension from that entry.

The only time you need to have the funds in the account for 2 months before you apply is when you go from the 90 day Non-O visa to the year extension.

One more question just to make sure, I've read from the doc (as attached) and your replied above so Is it mean that he can just deposit the money in thai bank and doesn't has to wait for 2 months to apply for a changing visa to non - o?

I sure would GO to the Phuket office as soon as he gets out of quarantine and you two get married to check that they are the same as far as apply for the Non-O in country.

Come in on the 60 day tourist visa...extend for 30 days...get married during that time.

I assume you are Thai ?

...Deposit the 400,000 Thai baht during the first 90 days...

...get married

...apply for the 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage before you apply for a yearly extension,

Can't do it from an tourist visa entry even with a 60 day visit thai family extension

...apply for the one year extension... marriage to Thai.

@James *******
yes he is thai and yes legally married with thai marriage certificate. 😊

I'd doubt you're here on a tourist visa anymore because you've most likely been here since the lock down at the end of March. Now you might have entered on a tourist visa where you bought a visa from a thai consulate before you came here and were stamped in for 60 days but that ran out months and months ago and you're most likely here on an unable to travel due to covid extension.

I'd say take your thai husband, GO to the immigration office and see what's required for you to apply for first the 90 day Non-O visa and then the year extension.

AND

while I have no problem at all with you looking for answers on this group. Your topic is NOT the same as the O/P's (she is going to have a foreign husband, you are a foreign woman married to a thai) SO please make your own topic to ask any more questions.

@Nana ******
, then there is no financial requirements for foreign female married to Thai male to get Non-O visa and 1-year extension based on marriage. The process is same, apply for 90days in-country Non-O visa first, then apply for 1-year extension. See the comments above.
Nana *******
Piep Piep Calimero are you serious? :O wow... that‘s great news!! Does that also apply for getting the Non-O in the first place? Because as I said i‘m currently on TR in the country and have to apply for the 90 days marriage visa first befofe getting a 1 year extension as far as i know 😊
James ********
@Nana ******
is your husband Thai? Legally married with a Thai marriage certificate?
Nana *******
What is a 60 day visit thai family extension? Is it possible to get this entering on TR? I‘m married to a thai but I don‘t have the funds to get the Non-O even though i have enough money to support myself. I would like to stay until april as i‘m working seasonal in my home country. I got here much later then usual due to covid and can only spend two months with my husband now if there‘s no other way on getting some kind of extension of stay 😞

Is this possible with current Thai covid restrictions in place?

Can you apply for marriage extension straight form from tourist visa entry (+TR extension) + Thai family extension? Don't you need to apply Non-O visa based on being married to a Thai first?
Tod *********
@El***
is correct
@Ja***
, they would have to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage before you apply for a yearly extension, Can't do it from an tourist visa entry even with a 60 day visit thai family extension
