Hi all… I usually get the over 50 non oa visa but was considering trying to make life a little simpler if that’s possible. We are in Thailand for 6 months … can we do tourist visas to cover this period?
Is it 30 days on arrival and then 60 day tourist visa then leave Thailand for a while and then return?
Uk passports
Any tips on good insurance? Normally do non oa type insurance but not sure it’s the best option
Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
To stay in Thailand for 6 months as a UK passport holder, you would typically start with a tourist visa that provides a 60-day stay upon arrival, with the possibility of a 30-day extension for a total of 90 days. After this, you would need to leave the country and could either apply for a new tourist visa from a nearby Thai embassy or consider border runs to re-enter Thailand. Alternatively, a multiple entry tourist visa could allow for an extended stay with multiple entries and extensions. For health insurance, using travel insurance from your home country is recommended, as it covers repatriation and other emergencies.

he asking about staying in Thailand for 6 months no need for 800k in a Thai bank plus opening an account now days is almost impossible without paying an agent not worth it for only 6 months
he says he's had the retirement previously... so obviously has an account and more than likely the cash. if not 12k at an agent without cash in.. which also I'm pretty sure you'd spend easily on multiple trips and visas...
You would have to apply for a tourist visa BEFORE you leave your home country. Then when you arrive in Thailand you would be stamped in for 60 days and can apply one time for a 30 day extension. That's 90 days total.
Then you would have to leave Thailand. You could either go to a Thai embassy in a nearby country and apply for another tourist visa (2-3 days) and repeat the process, bringing you to 6 months, or you could border bounce by leaving and returning immediately and get stamped in for 30 days, with a 30 day extension. That's only 5 months so you would have to do another border bouncer after this to meet your 6 months.
you can do that, though they're a bit pricey. You'll still have to leave and return at least one time to activate your 2nd 60 day stamp. It's also a good option if you want to travel around Asia while you're based out of Thailand since you'll get a 60 day stamp each time you return.
