Can I re-enter Thailand on a tourist stamp or do I need a tourist visa if I'm getting married?

Hi everyone, I need some serious advice..

I’ve been in Thailand a few times recently:

• Jan 16–Feb 8, 2025 (just a stamp)

• Mid June–mid July 2025 (just a stamp)

• Nov 29, 2025–Feb 26, 2026 (60 days + 30-day visa extension)

I’m planning to get married in Thailand with my Thai fiance, I was in my country’s embassy today and it came out that the document that I took from my country it is not enough (I didn’t make the stemple under the Certificate of Martial Status that I took from Poland, I should go to the Ministry of the foreign affairs in Poland and to Thai embassy in Poland before coming here.. ), so I have to do everything over again now trough the embassy here, but the problem is that I will have to wait 14 days from Feb 17 (my next planned visit there to complete the documents) and the bigger problem is that I can be here legally until 26.02..

so it means, I will have to leave Thailand and come back here when the documents are ready and then marry here.

I’m wondering: can I enter Thailand again basing on a tourist stamp or do I need a tourist visa this time?

Is it a good idea to go to the immigration office where I was making the extension and just ask them about it and tell all the information? 💀

Is it even a good idea or risky situation?

I have never had tourist Visa before here, so I don’t know it it is hard to get it. I was thinking about going to Vietnam to do it. I never did visa run away also.

Everything seems to be so complicated, but I can not live without my fiance anymore, not like this - that’s why i don’t want to go back to my country. I was trying to find a job here, I have master’s degree, but it is not a teaching season yet and they told me to wait until March/April.

Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

Your local immigration cannot help you. It's not up to them.

If you want to be 100% sure you won't have problems, pay for a "safe entry" agent who will guarantee you can enter visa exempt. Probably around 4000 baht.

The second most likely option available to you is getting a tourist visa.

Marry in haste, repent at your leisure.Take it slowly if she's a keeper she will wait.If she doesn't it's probably saved you a good few quid.

Christian John Carre I am a woman and there is no option for him to work in Poland, so hard to find a job for foreigners, he has a degree but won’t change the situation much. We want to live in Thailand and start family here.

Brandon Stapley because I didn’t legalize document in Poland, I just took it from the marriage office with the stamp, but the law here requires also the stamp from the foreign ministry of affairs in my country and from Thai embassy in Warsaw also.

Christian John Carre oh yeah but why can’t he just go to the embassy in Thailand, that’s all I did and getting it translated and notarized was just as easy, doesnt make sense why he is having to do all this back and forth from his country

OP
Brandon Stapley I was in Polish embassy today and they told me this is the law here. I can do it with them here from the start, but it is much more complicated and costs more. This embassy has such low ratings on Google, seems like not only me have this problem.

If you are over 50 the "correct" visa is the Non-O to stay in Thailand up to 90 days

Has anyone else noticed the recent appearance of new posters with names structured like this poster.

An example is HappyCucumber334 or SmilingBicycle881.

Something very suspicious about these posts.

Call me crazy but now you have read this you will suddenly see what I am talking about.

Deiter Krueze It is just new option on Facebook, you can post as anonymous (for example, because of the hate like under this post)

The username is generated by the system, but you can change it to your own one.

Update your app and you will have it also.

They will probably let you in again on a tourist another exempt but no guarantee. If it looks like you are doing visa runs they can deny you entry. A tourist visa from a nearby country is more assured. Immigration has said they are not limiting exempt admissions, just if you appear to be trying to live in Thailand without the proper visa by doing border runs to stay. Good luck! We got married in the US and Thailand used to accept our marriage certificate but now it has to be sent to the US Department of State for their certification and then to the Thai Consulate for translation and certification, then to the Amphur to record and provide the Or Kor for immigration! Ridiculous!

Okay everyone, my question was about the tourist visa, if it will be hard to get it basing on my last visits in Thailand or if the stample is enough, not about how to get married in Thailand.

I think you should get a non o visa if you plan on getting married and staying here, if so convert it to a marriage visa making sure you follow all the steps needed

It just amazes me that people come to Thailand, and within one year, they cannot live without their fiancé. Why not just marry in Thailand with a "Affirmation of Freedom to Marry" certificate from your embassy?

Night Rider I just wrote that I am gonna do it next Tuesday, but it takes two weeks and I have to leave Thailand on 26.02 and my question was about the tourist visa.

Why people comment first without reading?

ExcitingQuince430 2 weeks seems a long time for a simple form. Australian Embassy quotes 2 days for turnaround. No impediment to marriage has to be made in Thailand for them to accept it. As much as you shouldn’t have to you might need a visa agent to fast track it.

I think he is talking about the document stating he is not married already in his home country. I think it has to translated in Thai and signed but not 100 percent sure

Can you please condense the problem into one paragraph or pay for legal advice

Without knowing the specifics of your problem it sounds like you need documents from Poland to go through Apostle process. Also known as legalization. It involves several steps both in your home country and Thailand. There are firms that can handle the details for you. Search on line for Poland firms as a start.

Good luck. You can message me if you want more information.
