No, you can not get a tourist visa from inside Thailand.

Talk to the employer and see if they can't get you a Non-B visa based on employment.

On a single entry tourist visa, you are stamped in for 60 day on entry. You can get ONE 30 day extension of stay based on tourism at the local immigration office.
