TLDR : Answer Summary
A user successfully obtained a 1-year multi-entry Non-Immigrant B visa from the Thai consulate in London within a week. They mentioned the process was efficient, sending the application on Monday and receiving it back on Friday. Other users discussed the requirements for a business visa, expressing concerns about the slim chances of obtaining such a visa under recent policies, emphasizing the need for proper documentation like a letter from a Thai company.

If I was a betting man I'd say you have a slim to none chance of getting anything more than a 90 day single entry Non-B visa IF that from any thai consulate in a near-by country.

The days are long gone when you could pull those year-long, multi-entry Non-B visas (which require you to exit/re-enter the country every 90 days) just for the purpose of "looking a business opportunities" here.

Good Luck,

I would also say you should make your own topic asking your questions because it's not really related to getting a year-long, multi-entry Non-B from the thai consulate in London

I understood your point

I think you will need to start your own Thai company in order to get the long term extension of stay that you're looking for. However, you might be able to do that based on Export only, the rules for starting a company like that are slightly different than those for doing business in Thailand (as in buying, selling and making profit in Thailand) but you will still need help setting it up.

@Ja***
I was making a point because they used to hand out those visas just based on you writing a letter stating you were going to thailand to look at business opportunities.

Ok tod ,,BTW IT isnt looking ,,I have already sourced ,but as demand increases and IT Will I Will need to resource some where else .

My question is an initial 90 days then i can get Extension in Thailand UP to one year ?

But yes Will start My Owner topic .

As I Will be flying back to UK in next few seeks IT is about getting the visa from that Embassy in London ,not a neighboufing country in Southeast Asia ,though imam from a neighbouring country to England

The consulates in UK dont issue visas they all gave to be approved by the Embassy in London first before issue

Hi Phil

Can you tell me more about the requirement .

I am thinking about getting a multi entry business visa for 1 year as I need to research bamboo and suppliers for my products .

I am already getting samples from a Bangkok company .

Would a letter from them be helpful .

How long did the whole process take as I’m only in uk for 2 months and total cost

Thanks

@Jamie *****
if your supplier is Thai he won't be part of the BOI scheme it's for foreign companies

Whats the rule with working for a Thai they have 51% of the Company and I have 49%

Basiclly I am the native speaker WHO can answer all the questions accurately ON Process and materials to customers in UK as well as maling sure the qualify Control is accurate

@Luke *******

Jamie Watt Multi Entry Non B visas for business purposes are now issued on a case to case basis and under exceptional circumstances by Embassies around the world. You can try your luck, don't want to sound negative, but you are unlikely to succeed in securing a multiple valid for 12 months.

To secure a Non IB, you need a letter from Thailand's board of Investment, i.e. you need to have a BOI approved company operating already in Thailand.

The Smart Visa for Entrepreneurs comes also with financial requirements to deposit 600K in Thai banks, and intention to set up a local company, plus overpriced local insurance.

At best you can hope for a Multiple Entry Tourist visa valid for 6 months given your circumstances and the current Immigration climate.

Jamie Watt BOI needs investment, like an office, workers and cash, I don’t think you can run it from your home country. But you need to find out more.
Colin **********
You would need to have a company in Thai (start one) to stay and work here for an extended period of time.
Jamie ******
Possibly this is the section that applies to me .

2.3 Non-Immigrant Visa Category “IB” (Investment and Business Visa) is issued to foreign citizens employed to work on investment projects which are under the auspices of the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI). Such projects must be involved in or bring benefit to Thailand in the following ways:

- Export-promotion

- Increasing employment

- Utilising local raw materials

- Projects engaging the provinces

Phil Bedford I’m sure there are ways to get a business visa without forming a Thai company ,

I am buying from Thai companies ,the raw material is here that’s all

You would need to form a Thai company like I have, neef to have thai staff, 2 million baht capital, pay tax. Very expensive to do.

@Phil ********
3 months is no good for me .

1 year I am after

@Colin *********
i would be working for myself but obviously using Thai companies to source materials and make the products .so confused by last two replies
Colin **********
You can only get a work permit if your working for a Thai company.

Think you would need a Thai company to invite you, and then you only would get 3 months until you have a work permit, and then you get 1 year
