TLDR : Answer Summary
In Chonburi Immigration, specifically in Jomtien, the rule for extending a visa exemption is that you can only apply for an extension when you have 7 days or less remaining on your current visa stamp. Going earlier than this timeframe may result in being turned away.

Jomtien 7 days or less and they will turn you away if you go earlier.

Unless I'm mistaken in Jomtien you can ONLY go for a visa exempt extension when you have a WEEK or less left on your stamp.

That's one of those squirrelly offices like Samui that does that 1 week or less rule for 30 day extensions

Thank you Tod. If that’s the way it is, I can wait and go there a week before my time runs out.

So there would be no such rule for a Tourist Visa obtained at an embassy?

nope same rule in Jomtien 😮 ANYONE on a free entry stamp OR a real 60 day tourist visa waits until they have a week or less left on their stamp to apply for the 30 day extension
