My turn to jump in here with questions related to my stay in Thailand. I am a Canadian citizen with permanent residency in Spain. I am now in Thailand with a Tourist visa expiriing on 9 April (received when I arrived in Bangkok). I had originally planned to leave Thailand at that point in order to spend time in Malaysia where I would apply for a 60 day tourist visa in order to re-enter Thailand for the remainder of my time in Thailand (scheduled to return to Barcelona on 8 June). Given the current situation in Malaysia and the new requirements for re-entering Thailand (i.e., medical certificate and insurance specific to Covid 19), this no longer seems to be a sensible plan. I am instead contemplating extending my Tourist visa for an additional 30 days when the time comes. Can I do this in the Nakhon Phanom Immigration office? (As an aside, I am currently staying near Chiang Mai.) What documentation willl be required? As all of my bookings for that time are in Malaysia, I would expect that I would need to show proof of where I will be staying in Thailand and to make various new bookings. The other uncertainty I have is that as it stands, my flight leaves Bangkok on 8 June. If applying for the tourist visa extension before 9 April, will I need to show plans to exit Thailand before 8 June? And, finally, given what we know now, will I be able to once again extend my tourist visa in early May? Sorry for the long-winded post, but I wanted to include as much detail as necessary to hopefully get an informed response. I thank you for any assistance you can provide!
TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian citizen in Thailand on a Tourist visa expiring on April 9 is exploring options to extend their stay. They question if they can extend their visa at the Nakhon Phanom Immigration office and what documentation will be needed. The comments confirm that a 30-day extension is possible at any immigration office, mentioning required documents like two passport photos, copies of their passport data page, departure card, existing visa, and a fee of 1,900 THB. They won't need to show exit plans before June 8 when applying for the extension.
