Hi, I'm on a year extension based on being the legal father of a Thai child. My extension is due to expire next January. Is it possible to extend it outside Thailand? (Hong Kong or Vietnam Thai consulate perhaps?) or should I just do it at the immigration in Chang Wattana? Are the documents required to extend it (other than the money in a thai bank) the same as I used the first time or they would somehow required less documents being just an extension? Would I get an extra 3 months if I exit Thailand early January or should I apply for an extension before its expiration? Thanks
TLDR : Answer Summary
You cannot extend your visa from outside Thailand; you must apply for an extension at your local immigration office. The documentation required for the extension will be the same as your initial application, and when applying for a new extension, you can do so when you have 45 days or less remaining on your current extension. The new extension will add an additional year to your current expiration date.
