Hello.

---Brief explanation and question at the end---

I am not sure if immigration laws have changed recently or whether they apply to me.

I am married and have a child with a Thai woman, but havent had the money in my bank to get a long term/multiple entry type O visa.

So, I have been going out and back in every 3 months with my wife on short little trips throughout SEA, to get a new type O visa at the other ASEAN countries Thai Embassies.

They only give me a single entry because I dont have the 400K THB to get the multiple entry year-long marriage visa.

So now because of the holidays, I need to go out and get another but, I want to extend a month at Chaengwattana, until after the holidays in January.

Do they still extend single entry type O?

(Because a friend of mine just tried the same 2 weeks ago, but was denied and had to go to a visa loan shark for the 400K for his bank account).

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether it is possible to extend a single entry type O visa at Chaengwattana, given their circumstances of being married to a Thai citizen with a child but lacking the necessary bank funds for a multiple entry visa. Several comments from other users suggest that it is indeed possible to obtain a 60-day extension based on their status as a father of Thai children or being married to a Thai, with minimal documentation required. However, there are mentions of challenges and risks related to recent visa policies and personal experiences with immigration issues.

What mistake did they make 2 years ago?? If you got banned for 5 years, did they consider you as overstay or an illegal stamp..? or what..? Sounds like a strange situation. I hope it all works out.

can you remove this putz?

done.

@Sho***
, were you banned/black listed or just deported?

If you were just deported you can get a new visa and come back.

Unfortunately if you were black listed you'd have to wait out the ban before comin' back.

The Thai Consulate in LA is of no help in such cases. A well connected Immigration Lawyer can help to clarify, unfortunately I can not point you to the correct person. IMO your wife have to do the initial running around and try to get information from people who have done this case and than you try to find the superior in that case. Be careful of people who tell you they can clear Blacklist, it is not possible. To fight the case your wife has to go through court. Blacklist are usually 100 years if going through court, but appeal is after 5 years possible, overstay case can be 5 years. In order to help you a bit you need to clarify that point. You can also send by message the stamp so admin can see and translate.
Amornrat **********
you can send a letter to check with the Investigation Division at Suan Plu.

Still not sure about that. I dont have any paperwork or documentation specifying it.

They said to my wife in BKK that I'm banned for 5 years, but I havent seen it in writing.

I may need to go to the LA Thai embassy.

@Sho***
, did you get your 60 day "visit family" extension?

Back in L.A. now.

I cant say what will happen to you, but many of the guys I met in the IDC said they were rounded up like jews in nazi germany.

Most were overstay, some were refugees, a few were legitimately legal with visa's or extentions and illegally detained and awaiting deportation, like me.

A couple were actually fighting with attorneys but sitting there for months fighting it.

Its hell in there.

What happen? I am going to do mine tmrw tho

No. I spent 6 days in Bangkok IDC and now at the airport waiting for my deported flight back to the US.

Apparently the Cheangwattana office made a mistake 2 years ago about my stay here invalidating all of my since then, stamps, visas, extensions etc.

Making me pay for their screw-up and separating me from my wife and baby son.

@Sho***
, I would say you could go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet with just the marriage certificates, your wife's thai i/d card and her house book listing and get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage for 5000baht. They do NOT require any proof of funds at all.

That visa would give you 90 days then you exit/re-enter the country to get another 90 day stamp. You do that for the whole year.

Im being escorted in the back of a police car now, on my way to the IDC. I most likely will be deported now.

They decided to pull me out of the crowd and do this just to say no.

I had all my docs in order also.

@Tod ********
is correct with all of these facts. The only additional one would be if your wife changed her name after marriage, the marriage cert. would have her maiden name and her recent ID and tabien baan would have her married name. In which case bring the original for the name change certificate as well (and of course copies of all the originals). Note that the marriage cert. has writing on the back so your copy of that will need to also be double sided.

How long being out before coming back in for another 90 days?

Does she need to go with me to Savannaket?

Everytime we went to another country's embassy, they wanted to see her with me to know I was telling the truth.

Thank you.

When I must go out every 90 days, how long do I stay out before coming back?
Sholem *******
ORIGINAL POSTER
Now, after that 60 days, I would have to go out and do another visa run again, right?

Or are there other options?

USA

if you cannot meet the financial requirements you would visa run again. What is the country your passport is from?

Ok great. Awesome. Thanks.

If you are applying for a 60 day extension based on being the father of thai children you'd need the birth certificates with your name on it, the mother's thai i/d card, the mother's house book listing, your lease, possibly the thai i/d of your land lord, the house book listing of the place you rent, and a filled out TM.7 application for extension of stay (that you get at the immigration office)
Eddie ******
Awesome info! Lease + thai id of land lord will make things smoother. Will be goin first week of jan.

Me in the back, wife in front of me, son in the middle, wife's mom on the right.

You can always get a 60 day visit family extension of stay from the immigration office for 1900 baht. You can get it based on being the father of thai kids, or by being married to a thai.

It takes minimal documentation to do either of them. You apply for it at the immigration office in the area where you live
Tod *********
Okay, IF in fact you are married to a thai you can go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao and get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa with NO proof of funds at all.
Jeremy *********
Thanks for the information
@Amornrat *********
Amornrat **********
I am not sure if you have a multiple non o if they give, but if you have the extension of stay based on marriage you can hold work permit.
Jeremy *********
Is it also possible to apply for a work permit once you get the multiple entry yearly non O based on marriage?
Amornrat **********
@Jeremy ********
yes, if you married, HCMC (Saigon) and Savannakhet are issue Multiple Entry Yearly Non O (based on marriage) Visas without financial proof.
Jeremy *********
I've heard it's also possible to get one at the Thai consulate in Saigon as well without having to show proof of funds. Is this correct?
Kevin ***********

Hi. Thank you for a prompt response.

I am nearing the end of my 90 day single entry type O. Not a 30 day.

I have been doing this for the past year+ and the end of this current visa is tomorrow.
