Can I extend my second visa-free entry in Thailand for another 30 days?

Hey all,

I entered twice this year on a visa free entry, am I able to get an extension on the second visa free entry? Eg. I entered in spring, got 60 days visa free, extended for 30 days at immigration. I left, got another 60 days visa free, would I be able to extend for another 30 days at immigration?

My passport is Canadian, I've been doing a long fitness camp here in Thailand. I expect to leave for a long stretch of time after that.

Thank you for any info. I know you can't extend the same visa free entry twice, but I can't seem to get any info if I can extend on a second visa free entry (there was some murmur they are limiting these but I can't find the details).
Summary so far
The post inquires if a Canadian citizen can extend their second visa-free entry in Thailand for an additional 30 days. After entering Thailand twice and receiving extensions, the poster is uncertain about the rules surrounding visa-free entries and extensions, particularly since there's conflicting information about possible limits on extensions for subsequent entries. Comments reveal a general consensus that a second extension may yield only a 7-day extension instead of the desired 30 days, emphasizing the potential discretion of immigration officers.

At 180 days in Thailand in a calendar year, you are legally required to file Thai income taxes. You are considered a tax resident, not a tourist, so I rather doubt immigration would approve a tourist to live in Thailand 180 days.

How about in this 'theoretical' case :if you haven't done any extensions so far. But you are entering for the fourth time in 7 months. All visa exempt. Spent around six months in Thailand in that time. If you manage to get back into the country on another visa exempt, and you then try to extend (first extension remember) would they probably only give you a 7 day extension?

You will get 7 days enough timeto pack your bags and leave. I don't think you will be allowed to enter Thailand again this year.

Depends on the Immigration Office/Officer. In theory it could be another 30 days extention

is this 2nd extension in a calendar year ? As in we only get 1 - 30 day extension per year ?

Or 1 for each 60 day stamp?

I read each stamp is a new entry.. so you would get a 30 day extension on the new 60 day Visa..

Of course it's up to the immigration officer..

But what is the general rule ?

Because I find a lot of answers .. but there seems to be no single answer.

Fred Rubble They not look at calendar years, but at your travel history of the past year.

El Jay he means he has one 30 day extension from his first entry so will probably only get 7 days extension on his second entry

I'm in almost exact same situation.

Visa exemption 60 days +30 day extension...

Went to Cambodia and Vietnam for almost 3 months total. Came back recieved 60 days .. was also hoping for 1 more 30 day extension so I can finish traveling Thailand.

I see so many different replies when I look around.. yes you'll get it it's a new Visa... Or No you'll only get 7 days..

Fred Rubble a new visa? I thought you were talking about visa exempt.

Since end of last year they don't want you to stay 180 days in a year, not calendar year, on visa exempt, so quite a big chance you will get 7 days.

Luit van der Linde yes.. I came in February.. on a 60 day Visa exemption, then recieved 30 day EXTENSION.

I traveled OUTSIDE OF THAILAND for 3 months.. came back on a NEW STAMP using a VISA EXEMPTION.

Does one qualify and recieve a NEW 30 day extension with a NEW STAMP ??

I'm only getting this information from different things I'm reading...

Fred Rubble After 3 months out you should be ok for another 30 days extention

If you left Thailand at the end of your first 30 day extension and returned to Thailand in a short time frame, particularly if you didn't return to your home country, you stand a good chance of only being given a 7 day extension

there's a difference between entering with a visa and entering visa exempt. With a visa you will get the extension. With back to back visa exempt entries you currently tend to only get 7 days for the 2nd extension (no idea if that will change with the move to 30 days). Really it's going to be at the discretion of the immigration officer but that's what the guidelines suggest

Fred Rubble Tell that to the Immigration officer.

Expect the worst and end up with a 7 day stamp
