TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among community members is that while it's generally recommended to remain in the country where the e-visa application is submitted until approval is granted, some individuals have successfully waited in a different country. However, there are risks involved, as some applicants have faced rejection for not following this guideline. It's advised to consider the possibility that the Thai embassy may prefer applicants to stay within their jurisdiction during the application process, similar to the traditional method of submitting a physical passport.
Main thing is not to return to Thailand during the application. As long as you are outside that box is ticked. If you are in outside country A and apply and then go to B and then return to A and come in who would care? They don't own you once you are outside which is the main criteria and you applied at the correct place at the time of application. So how would they know if you went to B anyway?
You should remain in the country you applied in until the process completes. Thai embassies view the evisa system in the same way they did when you physically had to hand over your passport. The only thing that's changed is how you apply. Many embassies want to check you remain in the country they are responsible for and check just prior to issuing the visa, don't risk losing the visa due to your impatience
In theory you should wait in the country you apply from until approval. Some have managed to do what you propose and got away with it. Others have been rejected because they did that.
Once approved it doesn’t matter if you enter Thailand from Country A, B or Z.
