Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ I have been residing in Thailand with a Non-B visa for more than a year and have a valid work permit. The expire date of the Non-B visa 21 August, but the expire date of the work permit (blue book) is 31 December. So, just now I not work any more but I want to stay and enjoy holiday in Thailand till end of the year. Can I apply to extension the Non-B visa by myself until the end of the work permit to immigration office?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently facing a situation where their Non-B visa is set to expire on August 21, but their work permit is valid until December 31. They wish to stay in Thailand until the end of the year for a holiday after ceasing work. Community members assert that since the user is no longer employed, their extension of stay based on the work permit is void, and they may already be in overstay. They recommend contacting the former employer to resolve any remaining administrative issues and suggest the user should consider applying for a tourist visa upon re-entry to avoid penalties.

It all depends now on you and your (former) employer. If nothing was officially terminated - you might find a good way to fix things while avoiding overstay. Fix it now.

My employer has not terminated the job yet, but it looks like I need to to fend for myself after August 21st. I'm trying to learn what I can do to avoid being penalized for overstay. The simplest solution seems to be to re-enter with a tourist visa ๐Ÿ™

You're on an extension not a visa, and the moment you stopped working your extension and work permit became void.

For every day you're here since that date you owe 500เธฟ as you're overstaying.

To my understanding, you cannot be on a Non-B "Visa" anymore. The visa was valid for 90 days - so you must have extended your stay based on work before. You say you don't work anymore ... if the work is terminated, so needs to be the work permit ... and with it, your extension and permission to stay. From the day the work is gone, you technically only have 7 days to leave the country. You might technically thus even be overstaying. Certainly no way to extend stay based off of work, if the work is terminated already. You will have to leave Thailand and re-enter on a different visa (or visa exempt), imho. I would rather go for a visa in that case, because of your history. But maybe someone with more first hand knowledge on this can chime in here.

To avoid unwanted consequences, I would also advise to speak with your (former) employer how to end administrative things properly.

My employment has not been officially terminated yet. Would it make sense to leave the country on the visa expiration date and re-enter with a tourist visa?

You are not on a Non B visa anymore. You are on an extension of stay based on working.

The date of your work permit is irrelevant. The day you stopped work is the day your reason to stay in Thailand stopped. You are on overstay since that day.
