I'm booked to fly to Thailand early November '22 and return to Australia early January '23. My wife, Thai/Australian dual nationality, has just arrived in Thailand and we'll be flying back to Australia together.
If I enter with a free entry stamp, for 45 days after October 1, I believe, can I extend it in Thailand to cover me for the two month visit? Where in Chiang Mai do I need to go to do this if I can?
I've looked at the Special Tourist Visa and the Spousal Visa on the Australian Thai Embassy website and I'm not really keen to go through all the paperwork involved.
Thanks.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their stay in Thailand after entering with a free entry stamp for 45 days. They are considering an extension to cover a two-month visit and are looking for information on how to do this in Chiang Mai instead of dealing with more complex visa options. Commenters clarify that as an Australian citizen, he can extend his stay for an additional 30 days from the immigration office or potentially secure a 60-day Family Visit Extension due to being married to a Thai citizen. They advise visiting the local Thai immigration office to confirm requirements and bring his Thai wife along.
