Hi. Flight booked back to Australia on Oct 10th. Flew back into bkk yesterday on my third 30day stay. Mainly here to spend time with 10month grandson.

Was also here 4 months last year. Is there any visa I can apply for here to save going on another trip?

With thanks.....

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on visa options for an extended stay in Thailand without leaving the country, as they are currently visiting family. Comments provide several suggestions, including the possibility of extending their 30-day visa exemption for a fee, applying for a single-entry tourist visa prior to departure for a 60-day entry with extension options, or obtaining a Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) from Australia for up to 9 months of stays.

I'm not sure from your post whether you are extending each of your 30 day entries by another 30 days at immigration. Giving you 60 days stay on each occasion. If not you can extend that 30 day visa exempt entry at immigration for 1900baht. You can also extend that a further week for another 1900 baht which isn't really an extension but an order to leave in 7 days. Might be useful to match up with flights on occasion. This is not as economicacal as applying for a single entry tourist visa before you leave Australia, and extending that, more for if you're already in the country and want to stay

You can apply for Extension of Stay in Phuket, Chang Mai and Bangkok 45 days prior till your Admitted to Stay date, most immigration offices allow 30 days prior till Admitted to Stay date and a few like Pattaya onl 15 days prior till Admitted to Stay date. Every province in Thailand has an Immigration Office, so there are more than 75 offices nation wide.

Thanks Dianne! No I haven,t extended the 30days. That would be great as no need to leave Thailand before I fly home Oct 10th ๐Ÿ˜Š

If you don't want that there's no really much you can do other than get a single entry tourist visa before you come here. That would stamp you in for 60 days when you arrive and you could get a 30 day extension on that for 1900baht at the immigration office. It'd take you to 90 days before you'd have to leave the country and either re-enter on a 30 day visa exempt entry or get a tourist visa from a thai consulate in a nearby country.

get a 6 month METV <- multi-entry tourist visa from the thai consulate in Australia before you come here. That visa will give you almost 9 months in country (in 60 day increments) if you need.

Dylan Chidgey NO consulate in S/E Asia will issue a 6 month METV to someone who doesn't legally reside in that country. The closest is the thai consulate in Perth.

Read part C that lists the requirements of getting an METV from them, (it's AUD 8K or 200K baht or the equivalent in a bank account)

Dylan Chidgey most other countries donโ€™t allow anyone but their residents to apply for METV - so good luck!!!

Australia allows anyone to apply for METV.

thnx! might check some of the more local consulars since im in Asia already...

Dylan Chidgey you have to go to the specific embassy or consulate website in Australia to see what they require, as it depends where you will apply - sometimes they have different requirements or some are more flexible ๐Ÿ™‚

But you need to have 8,000 AUD in your bank account to apply for METV for all of them within Australia. Embassy in Canberra didnโ€™t care how long it was in the account just period that you had it...that may have changed ๐Ÿ™‚
