TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around visa entry regulations for an Australian and a Philippine couple planning to visit Thailand for three months. The initial entry provides a 30-day Visa Exempt Entry that can be extended once for an additional 30 days. After that, they would need to leave the country and possibly re-enter for a fresh entry or apply for a Tourist Visa before travel, which offers a 60-day stay with one extension. Concerns about airline policies regarding return tickets and the necessity of a CFO certificate for Philippine passport holders when traveling with a foreign spouse are also addressed.

Upstairs office... they don't do visas.

Shie La Lyn > If you have an Aussie husband then you only need an exit (itinerary for a land exit to Malaysia will suffice). Then sign a waiver when you check in absolving the airline if you are denied entry.

Thai immigration is unlikely to do anything other than stamp you in (30-day no visa entry).

A bigger problem for you is if you do not have a CFO certificate in your passport. You will be offloaded and not allowed to depart the Philippines with a foreign husband.

If you already have your CFO certificate then no worry.

My wife flies with me and without me no CFO sticker in her passport. Never been asked. Sometimes one way and sometimes with a return. Usually just sign a waiver if required. Occasionally we just waste the $100 return ticket. As long as you have a flight out of Thailand within 30 days the airline doesn't care. Cheap flights to Saigon or Kuala Lumpur is easiest. The Philippines immigration are mostly unprofessional idiots who love to intimidate their citizens upon departure. Why? Mostly jealousy and incompetence. Though the odd one is very pleasant. Stand your ground with them and ask for a supervisor if necessary. Doesn't matter if you are married to a foreigner if you are going through immigration. Different lines exiting Philippines and most Asian countries you will be treated just like anyone else. Best to have a visa but not necessary if you have a return ticket in that 30 day window. Easy.

Unless you have a multiple entry visa, when you get to the counter at check in you will have to change your ticket to leave Thailand in less then 30 days. I just went through this. Expensive fees plus cost of new ticket.

@Ron ******
we've done it twice. Takes a bit of work but I enjoy the challenge. Don't recommend it for most people though. Only with Thai Airlines. Air Asia, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Air no you will never get a waiver with them.

You won't get away with signing a waiver flying to Thailand from Manila. I wouldn't try the old rent a ticket scam either on them there.

You can have a single entry visa as well, in most places. Doesn't need to be multi-entry.

that's really annoying.

Lufthansa.. I tried but we they wouldn't let us board with our current tickets. Trust me I was pissed.

On a Canadian passport. Ridiculous. If they insist sign a waiver. If you need to buy a ticket go online and buy a cheap one out of Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur or Vietnam is usually the cheapest. What airline did this to you. Nonsense, you should get a refund.

punta ka nalang dito and then visa run or border exit every month

How are you staying here 3 months?

Robert is correct as usual. Where are you flying from as if it's the Philippines you might have a problem with the airline and/or immigration. Especially you. Better to get the visa, or change the return to 30 days. You can also sign a waiver with the airline if they insist.

Is there somewhere you can buy a cheap bus ticket out of the Country?

i know, that's the reason why i'm so worried..i know what they're like here well, looks like we have to book a dummy ticket

that can be where you will have a problem. Maybe. You shouldn't have a problem entering Thailand. They will stamp you in for 30 days without a visa. Usually don't ask anything else. Leaving the Philippines is so annoying we hardly ever go back. Very annoying immigration.

If you enter Thailand you get a 30 day Visa Exempt Entry, you can extend this only ONCE with another 30 days. Than you have to leave the country and come back in again. Better option is to apply for a Tourist Visa which gives you 60 days on entry and can also be extended once with another 30 days.
