Hi I am travelling to Thailand in August for 4 days from Australia then flying from there to Italy for one month then want to fly back to Thailand and stay for two months. I have a wife and son in Thailand. Can I travel there without a visa then get some sort of extension to stay the two months. Cheers and thanks for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian passport holder can enter Thailand under the 30-day visa exemption scheme, which can be extended by an additional 30 days. After this, it's possible to apply for a further 60-day extension for family visits.

With an Australian passport you can use the 30 day visa exempt scheme and this can be extended once an entry with another 30 days.

After this extension of 30 days you can even apply for a 60 days extension based on visiting family
