As long as you return before the visa expires you will get stamped in another year. If the visa expires and you only have the extension then the extension is cancelled as soon as you leave. Returning on a 30 day exemption is a risk. I was told it's not possible and would have to get the correct visa when I return.

You cannot get an tourist visa or 30 day extension inside Thailand. You need to ask your Thai Immigration office if you can apply for the 60 day COVID extension...last day to Apply is May 24th...
But as your Thai Elite visa is expiring May 30...

if you enter with 60 day tv can you extend for the 30 day Covid before may 24 and then also another 30 extending the initial 60to 90?
