Answer summary
The user is inquiring about extending their expiring Thai Elite Visa and whether they can obtain a 30-day tourist visa extension. Responses indicate that a tourist visa cannot be obtained or extended from within Thailand. The user should check with Thai Immigration for potential COVID extensions before the expiration date. Alternatively, traveling outside and returning before the Elite Visa expires might grant a new stamp for an additional year.

As long as you return before the visa expires you will get stamped in another year. If the visa expires and you only have the extension then the extension is cancelled as soon as you leave. Returning on a 30 day exemption is a risk. I was told it's not possible and would have to get the correct visa when I return.

If you leave and return before 30May, you would get another 12 month stamp? I think this is the way people get nearly 6 years from a 5 year Elite…

You cannot get an tourist visa or 30 day extension inside Thailand. You need to ask your Thai Immigration office if you can apply for the 60 day COVID extension...last day to Apply is May 24th...

But as your Thai Elite visa is expiring May 30...

Be sure you try to get the COVID extension by May 24tn.
