TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on which visa to enter Thailand with after their Thai Elite Visa expires, as they want to apply for a 1-year extension of stay based on retirement. They express interest in the advantages of entering with a 90-day Non-Immigrant Visa as opposed to a Tourist Visa or a 30-day visa exemption.

Okay, Options:

1) ask to convert to Non Immigrant O visa, get 90 days and than apply for 1 year Extension of Stay

2) Non Immigrant O-A visa, which you get in your home country, this is multiple entry, valid for 1 year, so you can get almost 2 years of stay out of it.

3) Single Entry Non Immigrant O visa, you get 90 days of stay and after 60 days you can apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay.

4) Single Entry Tourist Visa, get 60 days of stay and after 30 days apply at local Immigration for a Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years and than after 60 days apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay.

5) Visa Exempt Entry for 30 days, apply at local Immigration for a Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years and than after 60 days apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay.

shortly before the thai elite Visa expires, I will enter Thailand and get a stamp with 1 year permission to stay...so it is gone then...after this should I enter Thailand with tourist Visa or is it more helpful to enter with 90 day non-immigrant o visa to proceed in getting the 1 year extension based on retirement?

You can ask the Thai Elite Visa help desk, as this visa is based on the Tourist visa, if it is possible to before your visa ends, convert it to a Non Immigration O Visa based on being over 50 years of age. If possible, than apply later for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age. No need to leave the country and apply for other visa's. But I do not know if this is possible, therefor I write ask their help desk.

As the Thai Elite Visa has a multi-langual help desk the best is to ask there, as I understand you can get 6 years of stay out of this visa.
