Thank you for the add. I have a question about tourist visa extension. I have a NZ passport and obtained a 30 day tourist visa at Padang Besar border(by train). Am I able to extend this without leaving the country? If so, for how long? I am staying on Koh Phangan and i see there is an immigration office on Koh samui. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A New Zealand passport holder can extend their initial 30-day visa exemption for an additional 30 days at an immigration office in Thailand without needing to leave the country. The nearest immigration office for this extension is on Koh Samui, which is accessible from Koh Phangan. It's recommended to bring your passport, some money for fees, and potentially a passport photo. Extensions can only be done once per entry.

Yes you can come to Samui, I went there today for an extension and it is an absolute breeze. They lock the doors just before 12 and open again at 2pm so come early.

You can do all that at the immigration office. Passport copy B20 and photos, I am not sure but you only need 1.

Thank you Magdeleen! Iโ€™ll take the 8am boat from Thong Sala. Apart from passport and money, should I bring anything else? Photos, photocopies?

You can go to immigration and extend it by 30 days. You can do this once per entry. And as JD pointed out, you do not have a visa. You have a visa exempt entry.

You can Extend for 30 days at an Immigration Office

You got a 30 day Exempt Entry not a Tourist Visa
