Apologies if this is a bit of a n00b question, but I'm here on the 60 day tourist visa and I want to do my first extension (I'm in Samui). Can someone guide me through the process/what I need?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your 60-day tourist visa in Samui, take your passport to the immigration office. You will need to request the extension and can have necessary forms printed and passport photos taken at nearby booths. Make copies of your passport at a small fee (around 15 baht), then fill out the form at the main building. It's advisable to get assistance from staff to ensure your application is complete before submitting it. Expect some waiting time, but the process is generally straightforward.

When you arrive you'll want to head to the little building on the right to get copies of your passport which they will help you with, but they do charge a small fee (like 15baht). Once you have your copies and photos you can head up to the main building to fill out the form. There's usually someone there to help you, as it's not always straightforward if you haven't done it before, but just ensure someone checks it over for you before you hand it over. Inside you'll wanna get in line to get a que number where you'll wait for that to be called to go up to the desk. It's all pretty straightforward but can be flustering if you've never done it and the office is a gong show. I went yesterday at around 130 and it was nice and quiet.

Thanks! I hear they don't let you into immigration if you're wearing shorts - is that true in Samui?

Yep, it's true. You need a suit and tie! ๐Ÿ˜‚

they prefer you to be respectfully dressed. But more for the girls, than the boys.

Take your passport to Samui immigration. Tell them what extension you want. You can get any forms printed or passport photos taken in booths, outside
