Hi how are you ? I had in mind to come to Thailand for a few months .. to gain work experience. I know that to get a work visa you have to come with a job already .. I had in mind to come towards the middle of December with a tourist visa and then look for a job. it can be done? I would like to know if in December it is still necessary to do the 14 days of quarantine provided by the government or not and , and you can advise me which visa I could ask for which could be right for me. thanks again

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is considering traveling to Thailand on a tourist visa to seek work experience, inquiring about the feasibility of finding a job while in the country and the quarantine requirements in December. Responses from the community indicate significant challenges, including the highly competitive job market for expats, ongoing Covid-19 travel restrictions, and mandatory quarantine regulations that are likely to remain in effect. The consensus suggests it's currently difficult to find short-term work opportunities, and it may be wiser to delay travel plans until 2021 when conditions could improve.

Short term work experience type jobs are pretty much non existent in Thailand even prior to COVID. The company who would employ you has to jump through many hoops just to get your work permit and it’s not feasible for them to do it for a short term job. December is looking very unlikely for opening for regular tourists, who aren’t going to pay €1.000 upwards to quarantine for 14 days. I think you need to have a rethink and plan on elsewhere to get the experience you want.

you cant go at the moment to TH for your purpise, and chances that you will a job as IT chef are close to zero giving zero tourists numbers and shrinking numbers of expats

How long is a piece of string? You'll need a Non Imm B visa and work permit to work in Thailand.

I can't speak about what happens in December, but it is very hard for a foreigner to get a job right now. I've been trying for months from inside the country and I still cannot get a job. Wait till 2021 before you start thinking about coming here.

Will be open first for limited risk tourist, from Asia

For Europe..

I guess not before middle of next year..

And I don't think so the quarentine will be stop before a vaccin will arrive.

Working as Chief, many restaurant are usually looking for in Bkk (before COVID), But for now .. hard to find any job in Thailand, only expat working for international company have still chance .

I work for expat moving in Thailand ..

So I can tell you ..

For now .. almost nothing happens

2 of my customers just got approval to enter in October, from Italy and UK

I think you're being very optimistic/delusional anticipating coming to Thailand in December 2020.

Yeah, good idea having a plan B. Really can't see Thailand opening up to tourists in any substantial way this year.

Quarantine i am guessing will be here at least all of this year.

Check with Thai embassy of country you are in.

There was announced yesterday limited tourist visas will be available. But you snooze you lose these will get snapped up quite quick i am guessing by retirees and people with property in Thailand
