Hi there. I am new here and looking at DTV and wondered if anyone has signed up for Thai language courses under the Soft Power category and been approved. I was looking at courses taught in person at Chulalongkorn University. You can sign up and pay for several 6 week sections and they provide a letter.

Thank you.
Answer summary
The query discusses the possibility of enrolling in Thai language courses at Chulalongkorn University under the DTV visa category. Responses indicate that standard Thai language courses are generally covered by the ED Visa, not the DTV visa. Some participants mention that hybrid courses, combining Thai language with culture, may be eligible for DTV. While Chulalongkorn is a top university, many express concerns about the limitations of language courses under DTV.

Oh I see the rates are pretty much standard for everything (Language and Culture, Muay Thai, etc.). 30-40k thb for class. 10k thb for "processing" which is a laugh but hey folks gotta make money. I wish the universities like CMU and Chula got in the game as at least I could trust their professional language teams. Thanks for the helpful reply! 👍

Thanks for this information. Chula is the top university in Thailand so I was thinking that they might be good but it does seem ED limited. Too bad. Thank you for the info.

No, language courses alone are not DTV courses. You need an ED for those

Regular Thai Language courses are covered by the ED Visa. There are hybrid courses, Thai Culture with some Thai language courses that are DTV approved.
