TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual inquired about the possibility of converting their 2-year Thai driver's license to a 5-year license while visiting Hua Hin in April. Comments clarified that conversion is possible depending on visa status. A valid license can be renewed up until it expires, and typically, holders of long-term visas such as retirement visas can apply for a 5-year license, while those on a tourist or visa-exempt status may only receive a 2-year license.

Depends on your visa status for 5 year licence

If you arrive on VISA exempt or tourist visa you will only get a 2 year licence

Long term visa like retirement you can get a 5 year licence

If you have a long term visa you can. On Tourist and visa exempt entries you remain on the 2 year.
