Just trying to confirm something. Since you can't renew a 2 year Thai license to a 5 year license unless you're on a non immigrant visa, can I renew my 2 year license for another 2 years? I mean actually renew, not simply reapply for a new license. Also is this even possible while on a covid extension? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is questioning the possibility of renewing their 2-year Thai driving license while on a COVID extension visa, given the stipulation that to upgrade to a 5-year license one must hold a non-immigrant visa. Comments suggest that it is possible to renew the license for another 2 years even under a COVID extension, provided appropriate immigration documents are presented.
interesting. I wonder if I'd be able to get a 5 year license as well on my covid visa 🤔. Probably not though because I was on a tourist visa originally.
I had same problem, had to go through the same process as getting it the first time! Fortunately having the knowledge, I did it my self, costing about 400baht for both car and motorcycle!
I already hold a uk bike and car license, so I had to watch the video, traffic light, brakes test! Also not forgetting the proof of residence from immigration, so basically had to do what I did last time. I assume if you already have the old Thai license, then you would just do the same.
so it sounds like your old thai licenses had nothing to do with getting your new ones, since you had to do everything over again. So mine will be useless in reapplying too. I hold a car license from my country but not a motorcycle license so I would have to do that retarded new written test and the road test for the motorcycle too. I'm pretty sure I heard you could renew a 2 year to a 2 year before though. Hopefully someone who has an answer will chime in.
