Hello folks!

I am currently in Thailand with a non immigrant ED visa. Because different people told me that I can not change this visa to a non immigrant O based on marriage visa at the Chonburi Immigration, i decided to do this in Penang. 

First question: Can I really not change the visa type at Chonburi immigration?

On the website from the Penang Consulate I couldnt find the requirements for this visa type. On the page from the embassy of Kuala Lumpur i could finde some.

Point 6.3: 

"Bank statement (last 6 months) in Thailand with recommended balance of 400,000 Thai baht"

Second Question: Mean this, I need to have the 400000 ฿ in my account 6 month prior to the visa application?

You cannot change the type of visa, or apply for an extension based on being married to a Thai from the initial 90 days of Non-ED. However, if you are already on an extension based on studying, means you already applied for one or more extensions after the initial 90 days, you may be able to apply for a 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai by meeting all requirements.

Q. Can I really not change the visa type at Chonburi immigration?

-> You need to check with them. It could be possible to apply for an extension based on marriage to a Thai IF you meet ALL requirements for that, including funds seasoning.

Check the list from Penang. Basically, same as the KL version. If you have a question, you need to contact Penang.

thanks for you answers. I didn’t found this link on their website.

I think I need to go to Kuala Lumpur because the following requirement

„6. Proof of Employment in Malaysia, e.g. letter from employer with applicant’s name, position and dates of visiting Thailand.

For self-employed, business license/registration under the applicant’s name must be submitted.

If residing in Malaysia under MM2H, a copy of MM2H registration must be submitted.“

But first of all I’ll check with Chonburi immigration
