Danish passport..My Non Imm O visa expires on October 17. If I enter by that day at the latest, I will be stamped in for 90 days. My question... Can I, in Denmark, buy a 60 day tourist visa without it changing my Non Imm O? I will then enter on my non Imm o and when the 90 days are up I will travel out and then re-enter on a 60 day tourist visa. Is it possible?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) inquires whether they can purchase a 60-day tourist visa in Denmark and still keep their Non Imm O visa. The responses clarify that entering Thailand on a Non Imm O visa will grant a 90-day stay, but obtaining a new tourist visa would invalidate the existing Non Imm O visa, as only the most recent visa is applicable upon entry. Alternative suggestions include applying for a METV to extend their stay without jeopardizing their Non Imm O visa.

I believe that the OP has the answers needed for his question.

Thanks all for your helpful replies.

Nope not at all, you get a new visa and that non-O is toast as the most recent visa is the one that takes precedence when you enter.

So if you're gonna stay on that Non-O you enter the country on or before Oct 17th 2024, get the 90 days,

THEN

if you want to stay longer, you either bounce out and back to get a free 30 day entry stamp and take a 30 day extension on that at the immigration office

OR

you go to a thai consulate in a nearby country to get a single entry tourist visa then come back in to get stamped in for 60 days

those would be the two choices IF you're wanting to use that Non-O that you have now

I think we need a picture of his stamp because it sounds like an extension and not a visa.

@Wannikea ********
It is a Visa..not an extension

@James *******
Thank you for helping

I guess I will buy a new non imm o at the end of October.. Then I only have to leave on time, to stay here 6 months as usual ๐Ÿ˜€

@Allan ********
where will you buy a New Non O as Retired ?

You will enter with the final 90 days of your current Non O

Multiple entry as retired.

You will have to leave Thailand to get a NEW Non O Visa as a retiree.

@James *******
Sorryโ€ฆI fail to explain

I buy my non imm O at the Thai embassy in Copenhagen โ€ฆI stay in Thailand 6 months a year (The rigidly danish pension law says I have to stay in the EU half the year to obtain my full pension.)

So I stay in Denmark 6 month in the summer, and in Thailand in the wintertime.

@Allan ********
thank you for your response.
John **********
Is that a multi entry non-o visa? ie you only get stamped in for 90 days every time you enter and then must leave?
Wannikea *********
@John *********
sounds like it to me, but usually those are for marriage only?
John **********
@Wannikea ********
that's what I thought and why I asked
Bart **************
No, you cannot have two visas at once. The most recently granted one will void the other. So in your case you'll then enter on the tourist visa, and the non-O will be lost.
James ********
Or if you enter Thailand with the Non O Visa...you will be stamped in for 90 days.

What is the purpose that the Non O Visa was issued?

Married to Thai?

Father of Thai child?

Retirement?

@James *******
Retirementโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜€

Just wanted to avoid make a new non imm o until next year ๐Ÿ˜€

So my options are:

Either have a new non imm o, or enter on the present one and have a visa exempt..and buy 30 days
James ********
@Allan ********
is the Non O Visa for retirement you have newly issued?

I'm trying to understand what you now have..
Allan *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@James *******
yes it is..it expires October 17

I am going to Denmark in May, and returns in October or November
James ********
@Allan ********
then get a NEW Non O multiple entry visa as retired in Denmark after your CURRENT one expires in October. As you cannot get that multiple entry Non O Visa anywhere in SE Asia .
James ********
NOPE... that plan will NOT ๐Ÿšซ work.

The Thai Immigration Officers will see you have 2 Visas upon arrival.

AND the Thai tourist visa is ONLY valid for 3 MONTHS from its DATE OF ISSUE .

IF you want to stay LONGER...

Simply get the METV multiple entry tourist visa in your home country before you fly to Thailand.

With planning it can get you up to 9 months stay in Thailand with a few simple LAND BORDER BOUNCE or by Air entries.
