Have a question. On tourist visa since early December, so must leave before 26th September. Would like to ask what you think if i would go to Buriram Immigration telling them that i don't want to leave for Belgium because to many cases there, quarantine etc.. A kind of asilum covid visa...? Would like to know what are you thinking about it. Thanks everyone.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original question discusses the possibility of avoiding return to Belgium due to COVID-19 by seeking a kind of asylum or extension at Buriram Immigration. Multiple responses advise that disallowance of such asylum claims in Thailand, outlining the importance of adhering to visa regulations and possibly seeking legitimate extensions or alternatives, while emphasizing contacting the embassy and the reality of overstay consequences.

Ridiculous lets all make our own visas up

Finish on March 30th

Something else to consider. If your tourist visa and possible extension, if you did get it, expired before March 26th, as it most likely did, then you are not on amnesty, you are on overstay, and are facing arrest and deportation, and a ban from re-entering Thailand for one year, as you are over 90 days overstay. You will have to pay your bt20,000 overstay fine, plus the cost of your deportation flight, before they will release you from immigration detention to fly out. Covid-19 refugee status is not a recognized refugee situation my the UN, so you can not try and claim that. Your best bet is to book a plane flight out, and go to immigration and beg not to be arrested.

, then you did not come in early December on a tourist visa and extend it on April 30th by leaving the country, as that is the only way you could update a multi-entry, and all the borders closed before that. If you came in on a 90 day tourist visa in early December, then did your 30 day extension, that would put you in early April, not the end of April. The borders closed on March 23rd. Your dates don't add up. But beside that, NO you can not claim covid-19 asylum. It does not exist anywhere in the world. You should be packing your suitcases to leave

With that tactic you better bring some snacks and alcohol just to have the slightest chance.

No you better get hold of embassy and se ud they can issue a letter.

thailand doesn't accept many refugees, and anyway there is much more chance of being killed in a road accident in thailand than dying from covid in belgium so i can't see that argument being accepted as a reason to claim asylum here.

@Oliver *******
if you are fit healthy nothing to worry about..in the last 6 months i have been though Bangkok and Heathrow airports twice..if easy to catch i would have it..now on 2nd week in Quarantine in Thailand.

Well thought out answer though 🙂

~2 covid death per day now in belgium compared to ~60 road deaths per day in thailand. even adjusting for the population difference, dying in a road accident in thailand is around 5 times more likely than dying from covid in belgium, never mind all the other ways that belgium is safer than thailand (less air population, better public health system, etc).

Snap your meniscus tendon and Get a medical certificate. Unfit to fly. Don't follow that exact rule. It's pretty painful

Its a crazy situation. I have heard that they are going to discuss the situation again but currently there is no news of this. You could, if you dare, speak to a visa agency who might be able to help you but for this you must pay a hefty admin fee. Otherwise, i suggest you book a refundable ticket as close as you can to September 26th and pray something else changes in the meantime. Good luck.
Neil *******
😀
Neil *******
Not likely as flights are running as normal.
Thomas ********************
Or as mentioned above, get that embassy letter ("unable to travel") and seek an extension. No idea if the Belgian embassy will help with that.
Neil *******
Interesting words Bobby. Who are you to judge exactly?
Bobby ********
@Neil ******
. It's not an admin fee. Let's all stop pretending about this shit. It's a bribe, that's it. It's all good unless you're caught, then it's goodbye Thailand forever.
Janin ******
@Bobby *******
, and now they created a special group for controlling all those agencies

Contact your embassy and see if there giving letters out again.
James ******
You have two choices, pay an agency a load of money for a Visa that might or might not be genuine or leave Thailand
Carl ********
They dont care that you not wont leave. You must leave before if you not make a valid visa 🤣🤣🤣

search for other visa and you can stay otherwise leave before 26 sep
Bobby ********
@Gregory *****
. Thailand wants you to leave. They don't actually care where you're going. If you believe they are concerned of your own personal welfare you are misguided. If YOU do not wish to return to Belgium, seek another EU country to which you have right of entry. There are plenty to choose from!

@Bobby *******
u know you are wrong about this. One of the specified reasons for 30 day extension is ‘outbreak’ in home nation. That is, of course, a subject for debate. Certainly, his embassy may support him with a letter (as Philippines is currently doing) or plead his based on immigration dept stated rules. Why is there such a comical and useless desire to push people out lol. It’s easy. So it overstay if one sees no other viable option
Steve *******
@Todd ********
Since when did immigration say a 30 day extention would be given for 'an outbreak in home nation'?
Todd *********
@St***
over a month ago. Where have you been? item 1.2
Steve *******
@To**
Fair enough, I missed that one. Although the OP would need a letter from his embassy to get that extention.
Bobby ********
@Todd ********
. I'm not trying to push people out of Thailand, but if people ask a question on Facebook people will speak their own opinions. If I was an officer at Buriram and this guy rocked up and said "I've been here on a tourist visa for nine months, I really don't want to go home because I'm scared I'll get covid, can you grant my an asylum visa", I'd give it to him for having the balls to speak the truth, instead of bullshitting like most posters do. Funny thing is there's millions of people around the world saying covid doesn't really exist, it's all a hoax, but yet 100% of foreigners in Thailand will swear on their children's lives that covid is real, it's alive, and it's running amok in their home country, killing thousands. You just have to laugh. I've just got to get some popcorn!

Fair points. All we can do is enjoy the show. I think for anyone that has the economic means and desire to stay in their current nation... there should be a means to do so provided by immigration in that nation. Considering the overall global situation, it would be a very reasonable thing to do everywhere

. I'm not wrong about Thai immigration not giving a shit about an individual's personal takes on things! If you read the first post it suggested a covid asylum visa! Now come on, do you really believe Thailand will start handing those out? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Todd *********
@Bo***
lol.

That part is true 😂
