Hi guys.

I am a French citizen who spend 89 days in Thailand from December 16th to March 14th on a tourist visa (60days) witch I extended for 30 days .

I am back in France now and I originally planned to ask for a second tourist visa but the Thai embassy in France enforce the rule of waiting 3 months after return .

Do you think I can come to Thailand April 23th on a visa exemption and ask later for an extension ?

I don’t have a record of long stay or back to back visit. It was my first “long stay” in Thailand my others visits being 15 days each summer .

Thanks for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A French citizen who spent 89 days in Thailand on a tourist visa is inquiring if they can enter Thailand on a visa exemption after facing a 3-month wait rule for a second tourist visa at the Thai embassy in France. Responses suggest there should not be a problem entering on a 30-day visa exemption, provided they have necessary documents like proof of funds, onward travel, and lodging. Discussion also includes suggestions regarding alternative visa options and the reputation of the Thai consulate in France.

Suggest you explore flying from France to HoChiMinhCity/Saigon in Vietnam. Get your Tourist Visa from the Thai Consulate in HCM

Friendly staff at Thai Consulate. See a fine city and then fly to Bangkok. Enter with tourist visa...60 days and can extend added 30 days at local Thai Immigration office.

again thanks for your info 👍👍

nope, but that thai consulate in France is one people should give a WIDE berth to if they can. It is easily the most difficult consulate in the EU to get anything from. :(

Why not just get the 6 month METV?

You shouldn't have a problem coming in on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

Just in case you're questioned though I'd have proof of 20K baht or the equivalent in CASH, proof of onward travel (within the length of time you're going to get stamped in for) and proof of a hotel booking or confirmed lodging.
