Hi everyone,

Need advice. I'm currently in india waiting a new passport - i'm french citizen and i'm away from Thailand since March..

I was wondering if i can ask one tourist entry visa at the embassy here since i got ED visa history - not on passport but probably on their data. What you guys think ? Possible or should i postpone ?

Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A French citizen currently in India is seeking advice on whether they can apply for a tourist entry visa at the Thai embassy, given their history with an expired ED visa. Although the embassy may issue the visa, concerns arise regarding the discretion of immigration officers at the airport who may check the applicant's visa history. Community members suggest that while the visa may be acquired, entry might be problematic depending on immigration officer attitudes.

My ED visa was expired in June. But I will come Thailand again with TR on end of the June. Luckily the officer didn’t question me and only ask where do I go? I just said head to Chiang Mai. I was landed on Suvarnabhumi.

actually I think it is not important where do u buy TR visa. Only hope to have a officer with good mood when u enter Thailand again. In case prepare some cash for bribe.

literally any other border. That's the worst land border in all of Thailand to try and enter.

it is the toughest border to cross into Thailand

The embassy will I'm sure issue you with a visa. The problem you will have is entering Thailand, especially if you did not study properly on your Ed visa and just used it as a means to live in Thailand

As mentionned above - i can also enter on a 30 days exempt - eventually renew it once as Chris suggest

@Namphu ******
yes. I understand that. But if you have previously been on an Ed visa which you used simply to live in Thailand rather than studying then it's highly likely you will have problems entering Thailand. At the very least expect to be questioned and make sure you have accommodation booked, a flight out before expiry of your visa and a minimum of 20k baht in cash (or equivalent major currency).

@Namphu ******

J'espere

@Namphu ******

I doubt the Thai embassy in India will care about you having an ED visa. It's the immigration officers at the airport that you need to worry about.
