What should I consider regarding my Thailand visa situation and options for extended stay?

Dear TVA family, I have a little doubt about my visa situation. I had a new passport issued in 2017 in which there are 3 tourist visa stamps to be found all together and on the latest one I got the red coloured remark. I probably would not have even had to apply for a 3-month visa this time as I actually fly out within two months for 90 days to Europe, but I wanted to make sure that I can stay safe and sound until that date as changing those plane tickets could cost a fortune... The problem is that I already have a plane ticket back to Thailand for the end of September and I would have wished for applying for a new tourist visa during my stay in Europe with the idea of staying in Thailand from Sep 25 until probably Christmas, and probably after spending the holidays in another Asean country then return here for 2/3 months, travel out again somewhere new to visit, return for another 2/3 months and then head back to Europe. I was told I should apply for ED visa or just get a new passport and this way my problem could be solved. I would go for the latter one if that works as I actually would prefer having more freedom to travel around and would not like to pay extra for courses that I wouldn't want to attend and re-entries & and other extra fees... I hope to get some confirmation that getting a new passport again could actually work ๐Ÿ™„ Thank you so much for any recommendation & advice in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is uncertain about their visa situation after receiving a red stamp on their tourist visa and is considering obtaining a new passport to alleviate their troubles. They plan to stay in Europe for a short period before returning to Thailand and want to apply for a new tourist visa. Community members advise that getting a new passport may help, but immigration officials can still access prior entry history. They suggest applying for a tourist visa while in Europe or considering a Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) to extend their stay in Thailand without complications.

Eh.good to know that...I had absolutely no overstay..now leaving the country I'll have two days because they moved the dates of the visa run so I had to leave earlier than expected..

It has been mentioned by the agent of no more than 2 visas in your passport if applying in Penang and no overstay stamps.

yeah, it truly sucks to be treated so exclusively ๐Ÿคจ Especially because I'm not even planning to use the 3 month stay that I applied for, only 2 months, I have my plane tickets and everything...I'm flying out on June 26 and my plane ticket is not even a cheap AirAsia thingie just to show..my destination is Europe so...I could not look more touristy this time than I actually am, eh...anyways, thanks again for the advice :)

WOW, you got that red stamp on your FIRST visit to Penang?? :O Most people don't get that until they have 4 or more visas from the same thai consulate :( What bad luck. :/

A new passport will wipe the slate clean at the thai consulate that red stamped you. BUT the thai immigration people at passport control will still be able to see ALL your entry history when you stamp in because their system searches by more than just passport number.

Still that shouldn't be a problem, and if you're worried when you're back in Europe, get a new passport THEN get a single entry tourist visa while you're there. OR if you're going to be in the country where your passport is from just get a 6 month METV <-multi-entry tourist visa. That would give you almost 9 months of stay inside the country (in 60 day increments).

If you're not serious about studying something I'd say the ED visa ISN'T for you. It's no longer a viable way to stay long term in thailand.

You got that red warning stamp because you used Penang too many times for a tourist visa is all.

@Samuel *****
when did this happen, they usually don't pay that much attention to red stamps from consulates from other countries.

@Jakub *****
If the country has more than one consulate usually if you get the red stamp at one you can't use any of the other consulates in that country.

Ummm i got the sane in penang after two visa and Vientiane would not issue because of the red stamp ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

Have same stamp from kuala lumpur, so only change consulate and its ok?

You aren't going to have any problem applying for a new tourist visa at a different thai consulate

Your current stay is til 24 Jun and you can extend that with 30 days, I guess that give you the time to fly to Europe. The ED visa is only an option if you actually want to follow the course program you applied for, it should not be used for staying inside Thailand without education. As you can read in the last few days Immigration is putting up their efforts to get a better grip on ED visa and following classes.
