TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a South African citizen, inquired whether they could apply for a DTV visa at the Thai embassy in Vientiane, Laos, or if they needed to apply in their home country. Responses indicate that applicants can apply at any Thai embassy that accepts their application, but it may be more efficient to apply at the embassy in South Africa, specifically in Pretoria, where they will be more familiar with the required documentation for South African citizens.
no, I had to actually send all my documents via registered post to the embassy in Pretoria.
I tried to register via the online link but because of my South African passport it referred me to the South African embassy in Pretoria. What a mission man.
because I'm this close ๐ซฐ๐ป to taking a train to Vientenne to try apply because some scammy company told me it's possible if I pay them 30k baht so I'll do it myself for free then
registered post. So could you apply remotely from Thailand or need to be in SA and then apply via registered post? ๐ค Please tell me about your missions so I can avoid the same ๐คฃ๐๐ป

It would be smartest to apply at the Thai Embassy in your country, since they know excactly which documents that are available for you being a citizen there.

You can apply at any Thai embassy that will accept your application. The embassy website will say who can apply and who cannot.
I did obviously. Doesn't say anything about which nationalities can or can't apply there. Is this just a generic thing you say to people who ask visa questions in this group ๐คฃ
