Can I apply for a student guardian visa to open a bank account while holding a DTV?

Got my DTV two weeks ago.

Tried my luck opening a bank account with a few banks. No success. Can I apply for a student guardian visa at this stage, get it for three months (will not plan to renew it), just for the sake of opening a bank account? Will let that guardian visa expire and remain with my 5 year DTV?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether it is possible to apply for a student guardian visa solely to open a bank account while currently holding a Digital Work Visa (DTV). Community responses clarify that having two active visas simultaneously is not allowed, and that using a tourist visa to open a bank account may lead to complications. Other alternatives, such as using services like PromptPay or Wise for transactions without needing a bank account, are also suggested.

Just keep trying different banks. One will open account for you.

Why do you need a bank account? If you want to pay with promptpay, Google Tagthai and go to a Kasikorn exchange booth for a card. If you dont need it, use Wise or Revolut.

U need to cancel your DTV before u can apply for student visa supposing u already get student visa but you still can't open a bank acct what are u going to do next? Some DTV holders did manage to open bank acct with/without agents

you can't cancel a visa but you can convert the DTV to another visa type at an immigration office inside Thailand. But it's my understanding the DTV would be cancelled at that point

Agreed, the Visa gets "converted" but I've never heard of one being converted back to the original Visa type

according to the announcement of the DTV published in the Royal Gazette the DTV gets cancelled when you convert to another visa, to me that means it's gone forever so no bouncing back and fore as you can with the Elite which continues to run it's course

Because it's basically a tourist visa.

There are agents who can help, but there are also rumors that accounts open under a tourist visa get closed, regardless of whether you use an agent. (I’m not sure if that’s actually true)

The point he was making was that it was opened on a Tourist Visa and has not been closed

You can’t have two active visas in the same time.
