TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a 60-day single-entry visa due to amnesty and is concerned about possible flight issues. They inquire about the possibility of applying for a 30-day extension and obtaining a 90-day Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national. Responses from the community suggest that while a family extension based on marriage may be possible, the user should consult with immigration regarding their options and requirements, especially considering the restrictions of being on amnesty and the need for proper documentation for re-entry after leaving Thailand.

One other thing to very aware of, and plan for. After you do actually fly back, you will not have a valid visa extension stamp in your passport, that would allow you to re-enter Thailand, as one of the groups allowed to return based on what visa extension stamp you have. So, be sure to take copies of your marriage certificates with you, as that will give you the document you will need to possibly get a type O 90 day visa to re-enter Thailand from the Thai embassy, after also meeting all the other requirements, like insurance, covid-19 test, etc. to get your certificate to enter Thailand from the embassy, then do your 14 day quarantine, as I suspect you will want to return to your wife after your work is done in AU. The Thai embassy also likes to see pictures of the two of you together in different settings, together with your marriage certificates. Just be aware of what you will need when you try to return, as situations concerning this virus stand now, and who is allowed to return to Thailand. As of Friday's news conference 7200 foreigners have already re-enter Thailand, so with the correct documents it shouldn't be a problem, although it will be somewhat expensive, given the quarantine requirements, at your expense.

Would you recommend obtaining the 12 moths multi entry o visa based on marrige before I leave?

you would NOT be able to get a multiple entry Non-o visa based on marriage inside Thailand. You may be able to get a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai wife, with a multiple entry re-entry permit.

I don't know if they will sell you that extension of stay while on amnesty on a tourist visa though.

You can ask your immigration office for more details.

If they grant you that extension of stay, returning to Thailand is not automatic, and you will need a certificate of re-entry and go through the quarantine process

Douglas Lilley, given when your scheduled flight is, the timeframe won't work, as you would need a full type O extension stamp based on marriage, and the last part of the process requires waiting 30 days for the actual stamp, if you meet the timeframe of the financial requirement, being bt400k in a Thai Bank account in your name only for at least 2months, or 12 months of deposits of at least bt40k a month coming in from outside the country. From my knowledge you can not get a multi-entry visa from inside Thailand. You can get a one year visa extension, and then get a multi-entry reentry permit, but not an actual multi-entry visa.

It's a 60 day visit thai family extension based on marriage and you MIGHT be able to get that. I'd take your thai wife and head over to your immigration office and see what's what .

Birth deaths and marriges. We have our wedding certificate but it doesn't include some details they want like (mothers/fathers name)

thank you will do.

@Douglas *******
that'd be the course of action that way IF for some reason your scheduled flight was cancelled and you couldn't get out before this current amnesty expires (the 26th of Sept) you'd at least be able to stay legally on that extension

I was planning on a 12 month visa based on being married. But this virus thing through a spanner in the works.

As was working on a 12 multi travel based on marriage so could

take any good earning contracts in Australia.

And base in Thailand.

But now wish to return and work for 3 to 6 months. And reassess.

I hope to fly out on 18th. I was Think is might be wise to get an extension?? (just in case)

you may be able to get the 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family. As of right now, border bounce just isn't possible because the borders are closed and you need permission from the Thai government to return (which is beyond the scope of this group)
