Tod, I have asked this on Thai visa.

Yes, before you jump down my throat and yes nothing more as yet regarding this medical insurance and yes realise they were discussing this and nothing more and good.

Personally, at moment do have an emergency fund (but the oh so weak pound on 39.

My main point on the new rules for retirement extension and perfectly appreciate and understand the new rules but just a quick question and noticed that in any case at any time during the year it must not drop below 400K at any time. This is new this year also!!

This was the figure which in discussions about possible medical insurance as cover amount!

I realise that one can not yet see any furthur info and this is not in any way a move to worry even more our expats.

just interested on your viewpoint.

thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the new regulations for retirement extensions for expats in Thailand, specifically regarding the mandatory maintenance of a 400,000 Baht balance in a Thai bank account throughout the year. These changes have sparked questions about their implications for medical insurance, particularly in relation to the Non-Immigrant O-A visa which is recommended to carry mandatory health insurance. Community members express curiosity over these new rules while reflecting on the ongoing dialogues within expat circles.

Just one last time so we're completely clear. The ONLY type of VISA that made it out of committee and was recommended to have mandatory health insurance was the Non-Immigrant Type O-A (Long Stay) visa you get in YOUR country BEFORE you wing your way here.

NOT a single type of extension of stay was even talked about.

The 40K/400K outpatient/inpatient insurance is already in effect for the O-X visa (and you have to use the thai insurance providers)

I think it's a total coincidence that 400K baht has to stay in your account for the year and the 400K baht being the inpatient insurance limit on the DISCUSSION for possibly having mandatory insurance on the O-A visa.

yep it's just not gonna be something I'm even gonna let get started on this group.

If you asked it on the T/V forum let their respondents run wild with it.

Now,
@Jo**
, there's no need to be like that. This is a thai visa ADVICE group. You have a visa question you ask it and get accurate and timely answers. It's NOT a what if this or what if that group. That's what that T/V FORUM is for. They can have people muck run over there with as much speculation and conjecture as they want to because they're a hit driven website and it's GOOD for their business plan.

It is NOT good for this group because we just don't have the resources to run herd on a bunch of posts that go wild.

Sorry
