Can I extend my Non-O visa for 30 days before applying for a retirement visa in Thailand?

Good morning all and thanks for adding me to the group....I would really appreciate any sound advice. I arrived with a non O visa from the U.K. on 15th April. I am now considering a retirement visa, but if I transfer the 800k funds from the U.K. this week, it wouldnโ€™t have been in the bank for 60 days before my current visa expires. So my question is....can I extend my current one by a minimum of 30 days, then apply for the retirement? Thanks Stu

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their Non-O visa in Thailand for 30 days before applying for a retirement visa, as they face a timing issue with the bank funds needed for the retirement visa. Responses suggest that the user can apply for a 60-day COVID extension to gain more time, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the bank funds seasoning requirement of 800K baht for two months prior to the retirement visa application.

I am in the same situation but was stamped in for 90 days based on a non-O married to a Thai. Is the answer the same, ie Covid extension is the only option while I continue trying to open a bank account.?

yes, if you need to buy time to let the 400,000 THB you need to apply for a 1-year extension based on your marriage season in the bank for the required 2 month period, you have two options - apply for the 60 days extensions unable to fly, or 60-days family visit extension

Okay, before we get a bunch more posts about it

Just so EVERYONE is clear, the seasoning requirements for the banked money method for retirement extension is exactly what
@Benj****
said it was;

800K baht in the bank for 2 months before you apply for the extension,

the 800K baht stays in the account for 3 months AFTER you get the extension granted

and

then the balance can't go below 400K baht the rest of the year

IF you arrived on April 15 you should have a 90 day entry stamp dated until July 13th so go apply for the covid extension a few days before that stamp runs out
Tod *********
The reason I say wait until closer to when this current entry stamp runs out is because as a rule when you apply for a covid extension they date it as starting from the date you apply <- meaning you'd lose all the days you have left on your current entry stamp if you went now.

I know pal....but the question I am asking is....can this then be converted directly to a retirement visa?
Tod *********
@S**
and I answered you by telling you that you aren't getting ANY visa inside the country,

You're ON a visa entry now, you're getting an extension (added to that) to buy the time you need, and then you're applying for a year extension based on retirement. Dunno what you want me to say, yes you can apply for the year extension straight off that covid extension once your funds are seasoned the 2 months required

sorry mate....I asked that question before your previous reply ๐Ÿ‘

@Stu *********
no worries you can go straight from the covid extension to the retirement extension no problem
Tod *********
You could apply for a 60 day covid extension but that's the only thing you've got available other than the year.

@Tod ********
can you then convert the Covid visa straight to a retirement one? Cheers ๐Ÿ‘

@Stu *********
you aren't getting ANY visas inside the country you showed up on a Non-O visa and were stamped in for 90 days, you're using the covid EXTENSION to buy you time because you didn't move your money in fast enough (pre-covid shit show this wasn't an option and you'd leave, get a new visa and start all over)

So get the money in the bank here, just before your current stamp expires go get the 60 day covid extension, wait until you have the funds seasoned the 2 months required and then go apply for your yearly extension based on being over 50 (retirement)

ok mate....thanks for the advice. I transferred the cash into my Kasikorn account this morning. ๐Ÿ‘
Tod *********
nope you can't :/
Lloyd ********
You should be able to apply for a 60 day "visit family" extension, which would then give your money more than enough seasoning time.
