Can I apply for a one-year extension based on marriage with a 60-day Covid stamp expiring soon?

Hi Todd and all,

American Passport holder. Most recent visa was a 1 year Non-O multiple entry that expired Sep 1st 2020. I have been on Covid amnesty and then 60 day Covid stamps ever since. My most recent stamp is a Covid 60 day stamp that will expire Nov 25.

I had planned to go with my wife this Friday the 12th to apply for a 1 year extension based on marriage. We have all our documents, money is seasoned in the bank, etc. My concern is that I didn't consider the amount of days left on my current stamp. Will the 15/30 days left on current stamp requirement apply to me considering I've previously been on a Non-O visa -> covid stamps -> and am now essentially requesting an extension on that previous existing visa?

Chaeng Wattana immigration. I have already used the 'visiting family' extension on this visa.

Thanks in advance for any advice/insight.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American passport holder currently on a 60-day Covid stamp expiring soon seeks advice on applying for a one-year extension based on marriage. The individual has a history of holding a Non-O multiple entry visa and has been on Covid amnesty. Community members have indicated that there should not be any issues applying for the marriage extension, but the new extension might start from the application date rather than extending the current stamp.

They might make your new extension one year from date of application rather than add to time left due to the fact you will be changing the reason for the extension?

Thanks for that, Monti. I don't have a problem with that, just want to get off the covid stamps and back onto a non-o ASAP.

Since you entered on a one year multiple entry Non-O visa (based on marriage I'm assuming) you shouldn't have any problems going from a 60 day extension of stay to a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national ๐Ÿ™‚

Ok, that's a relief. That's what I had assumed all this time, but I was just reading some of the recent non-o marriage posts and kept seeing

days left on stamp coming up, was starting to sweat a bit. Thanks for the quick reply.

Getting an extension of stay is different then an in-country Non-O visa.

Just out of curiosity, were you here during the visa amnesty, between March to October, 2020? I have heard it's difficult to go from the amnesty to another extension of stay, but i don't know how much truth there is in that these days.

yes, I was here during the amnesty and had planned on applying for the 1 year extension at the end of that...then they started handing out the covid 60 day stamps and it was just too convenient with a new born at home, and I've been on those ever since. I was told by immigration at some point back then that I could go from the amnesty to the 1 year extension based on marriage.
