# browsed "#visaexemptonarrival30days" but didn't quite see exactly what I was looking for.

* Canadian citizen, will enter on visa exempt. over 50 yrs, would like to stay for 2-3 months perhaps.

* upon arrival, can i apply for 90 days Non-Imm 'O?' If so, do I need to show proof of 800K in thai bank as part of this application ? OR is the 800K proof only when applying for the extended stays 1yr based on over 50yrs. (this 2nd part, the 1 yr extension I may or may not wish to apply for)

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian Citizen entering Thailand on a visa-exempt basis can stay for 30 days initially but may apply for a 90-day Non-Imm 'O' visa based on age (over 50). This application requires proof of funds: either 800K THB in a Thai bank account or an affidavit of income from the Canadian embassy. Alternatively, a tourist visa can be obtained for a stay of up to 90 days (60 days plus a 30-day extension). The option of a one-year extension based on over-50 status also requires financial proof.

I agree with

and other posters, IF all you're wanting to do is spend 2-3 months here, just get a single entry tourist visa from the thai consulate in Canada using the eVisa system online before you come here.

That will get you stamped in for 60 days and you can get one 30 day extension for 1900baht.

That's the easiest solution that requires the least hoop jumping to do

Agreed. But certainly plenty of helpful advises to help plan forward incase 3 months leads to 2 years.

TR60 tourist visa and standard 30 day extension for 1900 baht

Or, if it's only 3 months max. , apply for a tourist visa. You can stay 60 days with a possibility to extend for 30 days.

Still can do the 'in-country' non imm o
@Pe***
during y'r stay ! And when you have that, after about 60 days, can apply for the year extension. Don't forget the re-entry permit when you have the year extension and you want to leave and come back.

yes that is true. The Non-Imm O will give the the 'option' to further apply for the 1 yr extension should I wish to proceed forward with it. Yes, more requirements (hopefully insurance is not one of them, though it's smart to get it regardless).

insurance is not among of the requirements for in-country Non-O retirement or following 1-year extension.

And a LOT less requirements!

Canada will issue the Affidavit of Income to their citizens which means they can obtain the Non O Visa as retiree and the One year extension of stay without depositing 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account.

Get an OA visa in Canada. Good for one year. No need to transfer any money into Thai bank account.

Thanks. I had done that in the past. However, this time around, perhaps only stay for 2-4 months. Fund in Thai bank will not be an issue. Will pass on the multiple -entry 6 mnts Tourist Visa...

Once you enter Thailand on a visa-exempt scheme, you can apply for an in-country Non-O based on being over 50 by meeting all requirements including funds. For that, you have to have the funds of 800K thb in your Thai bank account (no aging period required), OR you can use an embassy affidavit instead of money in a Thai bank account.

Visa-exempt entry for Canadian passport holders is eligible for 30 days tourism extension, so you can stay for about 2 months without applying for Non-O.
