Here’s my situation: my son has an ED visa, my wife has a Non-O visa dependent on the ED visa. Immigration will not issue a second Non-O visa for the same ED visa. I’ve been told that I could apply for a Non-O visa based on my wife’s Non-O; a dependent visa on a dependent visa.
Has anyone ever done this or heard of this? What paperwork would be necessary?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about applying for a Non-O visa based on their wife's Non-O visa, as their child holds an ED visa and immigration would not issue a second Non-O visa for the same ED. Several comments suggest that typically only one parent can obtain a Non-O visa supporting a foreign child, requiring a bank balance of 500K baht. Alternatively, the other parent may be eligible for a Non-O visa based on marriage to someone on a long-term extension, but individual immigration offices may have different policies.

Only ONE parent can get a non-O visa/extension based on supporting a foreign child here and that parent needs 500K baht in a bank account in their name only and to supply the required documentation
The other parent could apply for a Non-O visa/extension based on being married to someone on a long term extension of stay (called "trailing spouse")
GO to your immigration office and see if they will even issue a Non-O visa inside the country based on that reason. and ask them the documentation you need to provide to get it issued.
Not all offices will do it and with 70+ offices in the country there is no "list of documents" that will work at them all. That's why you need to go ask yourself
thanks for the response. The “Trailing Spouse” idea is what I’m specifically after. I’ve got conflicting reports on whether it’s possible or not and wanted to see if anyone on here has done it. Thanks again.
