How can I apply for a Non-O visa as a dependent if my spouse has an O-A visa?

Hi, just trying to do our joint visa application online on the UK site. My husband's has all loaded fine (he has an OA and it says competed) but when we try to add another application it only gives me the exact same visa choice..his OA long stay. I'm under 50 so I need just an O as I go down as his dependent. We've tried clearing cache, data, new tab etc, and we have no pending either. Has anyone else had this and overcome it? Help 😭

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is experiencing difficulties in submitting a joint visa application online. Their husband has an O-A visa, but as a dependent under 50, the user can only apply for a Non-O visa. Discussion among commenters reveals that the application must be under the same visa type, leading to confusion about the correct process. Suggestions include contacting the embassy for clarification, the necessity of showing a marriage certificate, and recommending that they try submitting separate applications. Some participants also mention the potential challenges of extensions and the correct visa options available.

wow, I stand humbly corrected (y)

Thanx so much for including the extension stamp.

It's good to know that he got a year O-A, you got a 90 day O and then you got an extension matching his year entry stamp.

That is really good news (and I hope they still do it ;) )

Tod wanted to see the stamp so this is what I've done. UK Embassy advised me and done this twice already. My issue was evisa website related, not whether I can get extension. NO one has any guarantees when it comes to immigration.
Robert *******
memories are nice, but what happened in 2016 is no guarantee you can get the same stamps in 2019.

IF one spouse is on an O-A visa that they got from a thai consulate in their country before they came here and the other spouse is on an O visa, unless I'm mistaken they do NOT issue year extensions to the "trailing spouse" that's on the O visa because in order to get an extension for that reason your husband would need to be on an extension and an O-A visa entry stamp isn't an extension.

Can you post an image of that matching extension you got in your passport before when you went to the immigration office on a 90 day Non-O and your husband had a year long O-A entry stamp?

@Deniece *********
wow, I never knew they'd extend an O visa based on being married to someone who has an O-A visa.

we both arrived on new issued visas on 21 SEP, I then got my 90 day O extended to match husband's OA year date.

There you go. It's always best to ask them if things are not entirely clear.

Thanks guys, just had message from Embassy back too, has to be same visa type on one account. Does my o come under "visiting family in Thailand". The dependent option is only for diplomats?
Ron *******
@John *********
no she can't. That's the issue. This part is refering to the trailing spouse

'f you wish to be accompanied by spouse, the marriage certificate will be attached. But your spouse will be granted Non-Immigrant “O” instead of “O-A”(Long Stay)

Applicant must be of age 50 years old or over'

@Ron ******
the applicant (the husband) is though. I think that's the point, she is being attached to his application.
Ron *******
@John *********
correct BUT she isn't over 50 years old.

@Ron ******
the extract you posted would imply that the accompanying spouse info should be added to the husbands application

well I hope so lol, this is what I've done twice before, just showed my wedding cert when my 90 days was up and then got my extension to be the same date as husband's OA. Although the last time was 2 years ago. 🤞
Ron *******
Deniece Paterson all you can do is try. Is it even possible to get an extension in Thailand on the back of someone's O-A visa? I always thought the person you want to ride on, needed to be on an extension themselves, and not a visa entry. I could be wrong.

Someone will be along soon to confirm.

just got through, at first she said cannot, have to do multi entry tourist?? when I questioned it, she said yes i can choose visiting family option, then upload my husbands passport too. Not confident in this but gonna give it a go. She said they would ring me to go through it. 🤷

@Deniece *********
its too early. They won't answer until after 2pm London time once the consular section is closed.

The best time to call is between 4pm and before 5pm

call them and ask because the correct visa seems not to be available unless your over 50 years old, unless I'm reading something wrong.

Yeah this is what my "O" is, and then I just get it extended to my hubby's OA date at immigration. But which option is it on e- visa website???😱 🤔😂
Ron *******
Maybe this helps? It's in the last 2 paragraphs

Certificate of criminal record clearance from the UK (ACRO, or issued by the police) or Ireland

Financial evidence showing monthly income of not less than 65,000 THB (approx. £1,625) or having the current balance of 800,000 THB (approx. £20,000), e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, for at least 1 month

If you wish to be accompanied by spouse, the marriage certificate will be attached. But your spouse will be granted Non-Immigrant “O” instead of “O-A”(Long Stay)

Applicant must be of age 50 years old or over.
Ron *******
Perhaps
@Tod ********
knows what they will issue one against?

The only other option I see is a Tourist visa?

I know it's weird there's no option for my type of "O"..(a dependent off an OA). I think it's the only option where I can upload a wedding certificate?
Ron *******
Visiting family normally means a Thai wife or children. No idea if they include visiting a foreigner holding a Non Immigrant O-A visa?
Ron *******
Deniece Paterson ah sorry! I thought you was looking to get an extension to run alongside your husbands O-A if that's even possible?
Deniece **********

@Ron ******
but I'm not over 50. Before I just needed to hand in our wedding certificate? No financial stuff needed.
Ron *******
@Deniece *********
no. You select the single entry Non O for retirement.

Infact, I'm not totally sure you can do 2 persons application from one account due to different passport information.
Ron *******
You will need to pay and submit his application. Then clear the pending application folder and do your one.
